The Luisenpark in Mannheim is not to be missed. OK, Parks are not everyone's thing, but I think if that's your idea, you need to try this one on for size, because it's very special. The Luisenpark was at one time the home of the National Garden Show. And ever since the city has kept the park at a very high level. Total unexpected. If you take a look at a map of Mannheim, you will see that this park is almost as large as the entire city center. It's like a Wow.
We spend 3 hours walking around the park and were totally amazed at all that there was to see. The staff was working on replacing summer flowers with winter flowers in all of their huge decorative flower beds thruout the park, and with the number of staff that were working at various locations, it was quite obvious that this park is special. There is a butterfly house, a cactus house, a working farmhouse with live animals, an indoor tropical forest, a huge long lake with boats that travel the length automatically for a wonderful relaxing trip thru the green.

the park is about 18-20 blocks long and 2 to 6 city blocks wide (varies), and is also home to the massive TV tower for the area. There is also many various activities for the kids, a wonderful Japanese Tea house, and miles of paths for biking and walking.
Be sure and pick up a map when purchasing your entry ticket at the main gate. It's necessary so you don't get lost. Its BIG.

A beautiful slice of nature in an industrial type city. It had winding paths, beautiful flower beds, manicured lawns, several excellent indoor/outdoor restaurants, a botanical garden, a large lake with boating & an interesting selection of wildlife. We especially loved the penguins. This park was the highlight of our stay in Mannheim. We loved it!!

A bit expensive and freaky to pay for just a park. It’s not a zoo, it’s a park! Should be supported by the government. Anyway. Still a nice place.

Beside Wasserturm you should go to Luisenpark. Mannheim has a few beautiful places, Lusienpark is one of them. You have a little zoo, can rent a little boat (which automaticaly moves, no effort needed).

Its a big park with different themes. The main highlight is an Area where they have a small zoo, tropical area, Aquarium. The best part is where you have the Butterflies. You can walk among them and if you are lucky one might just sit on your hand. Overall a must to do, when in Mannheim.

We visited as a family in late August 2018. There is a charge to enter for adults and children over 6 years old.

It is a stunning park.
25 minutes from the main railway station and in a very wealthy area.

The boat ride is wonderful and calming, and you are visited by carps....we also saw a turtle. The boat ride has a charge.

The farm is a farm with the usual critters, the tropical garden has a baby croc.

We spent 4 hours and could have spent more.

A great day out.

The whole place is like a holiday resort. It is a lovely escape especially in the very hot days of summer when you are stuck in the city. Sometimes we take some stuff to eat and do breakfast in park. Sometimes I go there, sit on a chair and read for hours with bird sounds and sunshine in the background. They have many chairs everywhere in the park, if you want to be comfortable and have lying you always find some... We generally buy yearly membership with the price of 4 single entries and enjoy the park throughout the year.. Lovely place

It's really a very beautiful plece to spend a sunny afternoon.
If you have small children you cannot miss this big park : they can find playgrounds everywhere!
Amazing flowers and exotic animals.
Quite and relaxing the boat tour with "gondoletta".
For 2 adults and two children the entrance fee is 21.00 €.

The park is extremely catered for children and the elder. It is a zoological and botanical garden with an additional Chinese garden. I enjoyed the meal in the searestaurant, though it is a bit pricey, it still worth the agronomic windows view of boat floating. On Sunday, family gather for picnic on the lawn and enjoy the multiple children entertainment facilities there.
