Massive Asian restaurant at Planken in Mannheim. They have everything, Asian food, sushi, the lot. They have an all you can eat buffet which seems popular you can pick from dishes laid out and also pick your meat hand it in with your table number and it arrives a few minutes later cooked by the grill chef. The food was OK nothing special but given the amounts and size of the place tasty and good value. €

you can there get food from all over asia in a big and nicely decorated restaurant.
i am sure not all the food is perfect because they offer food from many places but it is close enough for the price and it is all in one place.
everybody should find something there from sushi over chinese or thai cuisine

This is a great restaurant in the middle of Mannheim city center at Paradeplatz. There is a rich buffet, which you can choose to have all you can eat at a fix price or other a-la-carte food and drink. The buffet includes the mongol style food (you have many kinds of uncooked fish, meat and vegetables, as well as many souce types. you mix these raw food as you wish and give the cook to barbecue it for you), chinese food and japanese food. additionally you have some additional international food and as desert ice, fresh fruits and fried fruits with honey. The restaurant has a great bar and you can have all kinds of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and coctails. Especially on weekend in the evening it is too crowded, so I recommend to make a reservation for big groups.

We went for the midday buffet, which is about 17euro per person. Unlike some Asian buffets, whatever type of food they had they had plenty of it, there's no lottery on going up. On the other hand, the sushi and dim sum are pretty mediocre. When we were there there was salmon, eel & clam sushi and two types of california rolls and some pickle maki, and for the dimsum there was one type of shumi which was mushy & and some steamed rolls with no filling. There is also a salad bar, a lot of fruit & some ordinary chinese hot dishes, but I think the main attraction is a large buffet of raw food you can have cooked to order, in what in the US is identified as "Mongolian" style but I don't know if it really has anything to do with Mongolia. But here as always it is down to how good you are at picking your own ingredient combination. But the ingredients all seemed fresh & healthy.

Overall I think it's not exactly gourmet, but it will really please students & families with teenagers etc. The service is nice and generally efficient.

For €17 you can eat as you much from the buffet : food was of excellent qualiy from sushis, to fresh prawns and mussels, meat, vegetables and sauces. You select your raw food and hand it over to the cook. The waiter will bring your plate back once ready. Great food, great service.
When you have finished, take the lift next to the restaurant, to the cocktail bar at the top of the tower overlooking the Paradeplatz for great views over Mannheim.
