We visited Heidelberg in a weekend in October when the town was bathed in perfect Autumn sunshine. Fabulous time sitting outside for lunch in the squares and enjoying the cafe life. Villa Marstall was very well situated and a stones throw from all the action. Our room was attractive, very spacious and light with a view of the river and a very comfortable and large canopied bed. The bathroom was smallish but spotless and everything worked, Breakfast was plentiful with a good range of hot and cold items and we particularly enjoyed the variety of fresh German bread and rolls available.

Only slight downside was that as it so sunny and hot that we wanted to have the window open [as the air con did not appear to be operating, perhaps not surprisingly given time of year] and there was a very noisy road outside so we had to choose between being a bit hot or hearing the traffic,

I've spent a few days at Villa Marstall last August and the location is perfect. It has a nice view over the Neckar river and it's very close to all the important places you must see in Heidelberg: the castle, the churches the philosopher's way and all the old town. There are some nice restaurants around too. My room was ok, very clean, but a little too small. Breakfast was delicious! I'd stay there again!

Right in the old town, close enough for a stroll to restaurants and shops, but far enough away for a decent night's sleep. Very friendly and helpful staff who offered good advice about things to do for the day. Rooms are spacious, well appointed and exceptionally comfortable.
An establishment with real character and style, without the discomforts that this usually implies.

This hotel is central to the old town and an easy walk to tourist places of interest. It is close to the bus stops, good restaurants and the river walks. All the staff were terrific and more than helpful. Only two things that were not 10/10. 1. The floor levels between the bathroom and the rest of the room was different so a small toe-hitting ledge 2. The 10 euro breakfast was just ok, basic. It was better to walk up the road where there are excellent cafes offering good buffet type food. Another thing is that if you like a/c and are staying in summer it may be a bit warmer than usual as they have an eco-type air system which would not get as cold as a refrigerated system.

Room Tip: We stayed in a river view room, 2nd floor (Rm 31)which was big, comfy and romantic. There was little...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights - including Heidelberg Herbst Saturday. The hotel is everything it promise, especially the location is perfect, you can go on foot anywhere in Altstad. The rooms are tastefully decorated: delightful mixture of old and new, just like the city, it has a wonderful "old town" feeling. The breakfast buffet is perfect, wide selection for the lovers of continental breakfast. Service was cordial and friendly. We will surely stay here the next time we visit.

Room Tip: We had the corner room Nr. 14 on the ground floor wich was very nice with partial Neckar view. :-)

We stayed one night and enjoyed this hotel very much. Upon checking in, the staff was very helpful and welcoming. The rooms are lovely and clean. They directed us to things around town. Parking was not terrible but I think if they offered valet parking, it would be helpful. The breakfast room is so cool. The food was very good and a nice variety. I would definitely stay here again!
