I've honestly never personally stayed in the Dubliner overnight, thus I can only review the bar/restaurant. Marking the heart of the hauptstrasse, this two story joint is notorious for being one of the main American hotspots in the city, due to its English staff and superb location. Separating the shopping and dining hemispheres of the hauptstrasse, the dubliner is the perfect place to start off a good night, as it offers a comfortable yet easygoing vibe and is a bit more welcoming than some of the more intense bars down the road. The staff can be a bit impatient/rude, but if approached in a friendly manner, are willing to accompany any request, and can even set up an impromptu beer-pong tournament in the back room. I've had nothing but great experiences here, and hope the hotel offers just as much as the bar does downstairs.

For the price I would have never expected the rooms we got. They are small, but perfect for a group of friends wanting to come down for a weekend. It's location can't be beat as it is right in the heart of the Hauptstraße. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The only bad thing is that the rooms are often booked and we can't stay there.

Friends and I stayed at the Dubliner Hotel and Irish Pub for one night during a driving tour of Germany and surrounding areas and we loved it! After three nights spent at Oktoberfest earlier in the week, we were so very excited to find Guinness on tap! :) It felt the most like home than anywhere we stayed on our trip. The location is great, near a lot of shopping and walking distance from Schloss Heidelberg. The bar staff is the hotel staff and they were accommodating. The rooms were a good size, had private showers and were very clean. We loved the fact that after a few rounds and dinner we could just go next door and go to sleep. The only drawbacks were since the hotel is right next to the bar, it is a little noisy downstairs if you don't stay up partying with the best of them and one friend ordered a drink that wasn't what she thought it was and they charged her for it anyway. It was a you pay for it or I pay for it deal, but I guess things are a little different in Texas. Parking isn't super convenient but we didn't expect it to be. All together a pretty great place!

Had a great time in the Dubliner last year ! Rooms upstair are kinda small but clean ! Beds were comfortable so i had a good nights rest !
The Bar downstairs i remember from Years ago when it was an Irsh Pub eswell but with a different name ! Its a good thing they only changed the name , because its still a really good place to go for a night out ! Service is fast and friendly . Drink prices are reasonable and the Pints are good ! All in all A good night out

My husband and I really loved the location of the Dubliner, both being above the Irish pub and right on the main promenade. The room was quite basic but did the job. The linens were soft and clean. As was the bathroom. The hardwood floors could have used a good swifter and mopping. The door closer was broken and some of the curtain had been torn off the rod...so just a few repairs needed. Walls could use a few Ikea photos (since the bed, mattress, linens, lamp, armoir, etc were all from Ikea anyway), new pillows and some updated, matching towels (also a cheap find at ikea), and a hair dryer for each room would be some inexpensive but nice updates.

Definitely a good value and good location.

We wanted to like this hotel, but it consistently let us down. The hotel was centrally located in the Old City of town. It is on the main pedestrian street filled with shops, restaurants, and other tourists. It is about a 10 minute walk to the tram to the castle and main plaza. The location was great for walking and sight-seeing, although a bit inconvenient for parking; the street was pedestrian only, so we had to park in a parking lot about a 5-10 minute walk away (that didn’t have an elevator) and pull our bags to the hotel. The parking cost 13 euros per night.

You check in with the friendly Irish bartender at the bar. There is no reception area, just the bar. However, once you get your key, there is a separate entrance for hotel guests so you do not always have to go in and out through the bar. The rooms were clean and basic with little décor, just the necessities, which was fine. The bathroom and the shower were quite small, but clean. The bed was comfortable. We had room #4 which faced the street, we were warned that you hear a little more noise there than in the internal rooms. There is a small balcony and nice views.

There is no elevator and steep stairs. And the hallways are dark and dilapidated. There is no air conditioning, so you had to keep the windows open, which let in more noise, but you would have had to do the same in the internal rooms. Breakfast is not included. The continental breakfast cost 12 euros – we did not have the breakfast, so I can’t speak to that. The bar offers a 10% discount on food and drinks purchased in the bar.

Two things really let us down about this hotel. First, no matter where you stay in the hotel (internal or external) there is noise late into the night and starting early. While the bar prohibits drinking outside after 11pm, smokers still go out there and are loud. Also, there is noise from the pub that comes up the stairwell and disturbs. Closing the windows does not alleviate the noise. The noise from the bar subsides around 1-2pm. The pedestrian road is open to delivery and construction trucks starting at 7am, so five hours after the bar noise ends, loud engines and construction noise begins and wakes you up. If you choose to stay here, I hope you are a sound sleeper or have earplugs.

The other thing that let us down was how they treated a shirt we accidentally left behind. They found the shirt and immediately called us about it, which was quite refreshing. After a few emails back and forth (with a prompt response), we decided to return to Heidelberg because it was on our way back from our trip and only 45 minutes out of the way to pick up the shirt. The manager said he would keep it behind the bar. However, he hung the shirt on a coat hook in the middle of the customer seating area, for an entire week, making the shirt accessible to anyone who entered the pub. We returned to get the shirt and were told that the shirt had disappeared yesterday and they didn’t know where it was. It was quite disappointing to go out of our way to get the shirt that we knew they were keeping for us, only to find that the manager had been irresponsible and disrespectful to our belongings resulting in a stolen shirt.

I don’t know if I would recommend this hotel. It is a great price for the location and the staff is friendly. However, the noise is quite disturbing and they demonstrated that they don’t have respect for their hotel guests’ belongings. We wanted to like the hotel, but in the end, it left us tired and disappointed.

Room Tip: The internal rooms may be quieter, but I'm not sure.
