Great ride, go all the way up. We went to the top, enjoyed a stay in -4 degree weather and came back down to castle. The cars are full so do not expect to have an unobstructed view, but well worth the trip. While it was a windy cold day it was for the most part clear so the view from the top was magnificent. There is a small shop on top for tea, coffee or hot chocolate and a few snacks and tables outside. The chairs are equipped with blankets to wrap up in and were needed on our trip. There is a heated waiting area as well but no view and it is really over heated for those who are dressed for the out of doors. Loved the trip both going and coming back down. Stopped at castle on return trip.

During off season there is nothing to do at the top but enjoy a nice view of the river, bridge and old town. Still worth the trip up.

On the slow ride up and down there is a great view of the city and countryside. Try to get the front car if possible.

We were in Heidelberg for the Christmas markets and wanted to take this historic Funicular to the top of the mountain.
It cost twenty euros for two people to the top and back as well as free entry to the apotheke museum in the castle half way down (or up) You have to change carriages half way up to the old original carriage and you do get some fine views, there is a small museum at the top and toiltets. The run backwards and forwards every 20 minutes.
