“Best hotel of our European Trip”
Reviewed December 27, 2011

PROS
The room we stay in looked brand new. The beds are comfortable and the room is the biggest we had during our European vacation. The staff was friendly enough. Lots of space to put your clothes or to hang up your coats, etc.

CONS
8 Euros to park is terrible and you must get a ticket before you even enter. They told me it was a flat rate for 24 hours. The parking lot was practically empty. I am familar with this area living near here 11 years ago, but for those who are not, it is not close to downtown Heidelberg. If you have a car you are better off. If not, you will have to take public transportation. It cost us 6 Euro to park downtown all day.

If you have a car, it's not a bad deal price wise. If you do not, I would look close to downtown. Add in the parking fee and it will probably even itself out.

The hotel and facilities are really simple, and are not worth the price charged.
The location is not good. It is far from the city, close to a noise road intersection.
Car is needed to go anywhere, and the garage is also charged. The restaurant does not have an attractive menu, so you will probably choose to go out every evening to have dinner, by car, of course.

The hotel is nice and clean, breakfast buffet is superb. I also used sauna and really liked it. It is within a short bus ride both from the railway station and the city centre. I would definitely recommend this property.

We booked this room through my husband's company to get a better rate and I am so glad we only needed to stay one night! The room was small, not by American standards or European standards or any standards, just really small and claustrophobic. We had to put our suitcase on the built in desk since there wasn't space on the floor unless we wanted to climb over the suitcase it to get to the bed, bathroom or out the door.
The shower was nice but the furnishings in general were a bit tired and the hallway really needed work.
Nothing was free and everything was expensive. It is sort of like they "gotch'a" Since the hotel is about 20 minutes by car, from all the attractions of the city and did not have any pay parking lot that we could find we were left with no choice or other options than to park in their parking lot which cost 8Euros a day. To use their internet station (we didn't bring our laptop) it would have cost us 30cents a MINUTE, we found an internet cafe in the old city which was 1Euro an hour. Breakfast was not included either, but we decided to add it for the sake of convenience, it was huge with a lot of choices, mostly worth the 10Euros per person.
For some reason they were pushing a special kind of bottled water at 20Euros a bottle but when we tried it (finally something for free!) at the breakfast it just tasted like water.
The staff was friendly and the room was clean but next time we are in Heidelberg we will look for somewhere else.

While you will find this hotel listed for Heidelberg, it is quite a ways outside of the city center. It has conveniently located to major highways, but I did not find access by the local city public transportation. The hotel has an "in need of refurbishing" feel to it - curtains were grayish, carpeting was worn, etc. As a plus though - the bar served nice micro-brewery beers from a local heidelberg micro brewery.

The only reason we stayed at this hotel was that we had not made reservations in Heidelberg and it was getting late. There is nothing special about this place and the room we stayed in looked rather in need of an update. Nothing was free at this hotel. I can't believe we had to pay for parking considering the hotel was so far away from all the action. Housekeeping was already knocking at our door at 8:30 a.m. Guess they didnt want us to miss breakfast. Yes.... breakfast was not included in the room rate.

In my opinion one of the worst holiday inns I have ever been. The hotel gives a worn out impression, everything looks old. The lobby doesn't give a warm welcome, the bar is not cozy at all (the lady behind the bar is unfriendly), my room (executive one) was old with old furniture, old tv, holes in the curtain etc. I paid 117 Euros, plus 8 Euros for parking and 20 Euros for an average breakfast. For that money you find much better quality/price in and around heidelberg. As a platinium member I have been to some holiday inns (ww), this one is amongst the worst...

Okay, the room was clean, the bed okay etc. But these are in my opiniom standards for this chain.
