Stayed 3 nights, and moved to the concierge level after the first night. We were not given information about the executive level amenities, but did eventually figure that out on our own. Small bathroom, average beds, robes and slippers. Concierge level rooms include a decent breakfast, and a cocktail hour which offers enough food to make a light dinner, if needed. If you take advantage of breakfast and cocktails, it pays for the extra cost of a concierge level room.

Disappointments: Our room had no space for a chair, other than the desk chair. Instead, there was a pop-out window seat which was too deep for any back support, so there was no comfortable place to read or relax other than the bed. The lighting was also poor.

Although it is a non-smoking hotel, someone was smoking close enough to our concierge level room that the fumes came through our vent. We complained to the front desk and the response was that that was impossible since it's a non-smoking hotel. Duh! The hotel literature made it clear that there is a hefty charge for smoking in the rooms, but it seems there is usually someone willing to test the system! We were very disappointed that the issue was not acknowledged or addressed, and we suffered a second night of smoke coming through our heating vent.

Extra charges include Internet access at 10 euros and parking at 19 euros in the garage. Ask about the 4 or 5 free parking spaces in front of the hotel. You may be lucky enough to secure one.

Location was average, perhaps a 20 to 30 minute walk to the Alstadt, or a 2 block walk to trams and buses. If you plan to visit museums and use public transportation, check into the Heidelberg Card. We found the public transporation fairly easy to use. Although the staff wasn't very responsive to our smoking issue, they were well-trained to appear welcoming, and we appreciated their smiles and friendly greetings.

We've stayed there for 1 night. Since I'm a gold member we were put up on the executive floor in which all the rooms were recently updated. Rooms were what you expect from Marriott. Clean, functional, comfortable bed. Fitness center and pool very well equipped and nice as well. We used the lounge for complementary breakfast which was basic but since free I cannot complain.

Overall the hotel could use a bit refreshing but still nice atmosphere and ambience overall. Strongly suggest it for stay in Heidelberg.

The hotel is a bit far from the city center but in a nice location facing the river. Nice big rooms a bit outdated and an excellent breakfast make this a good base for Heidelberg. Paid parking and paid internet access reduce the value for money.

We had two nights at the lovely Heidleberg Marriott and were extremely happy with our stay. We were a little worried what the hotel would be like after reading the other (quite variable) reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor. However everything about the hotel itself was fabulous for us. It was close to the rail station, a great scenic walk to the town and castle, fantastic (spacious) room at a very good rate, looking out onto the river Neckar, and all topped off with a high quality breakfast buffet in a bright and cheeful breakfast room. There was only one downside to our stay, and that was the price charged for the internet. Most of the hotels we stay at now provide free internet access...for some reason the Marriott charges, and the charge is expensive! It is a shame because the hotel is perfect otherwise.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view of the river and on a higher floor are the best.
