I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I booked a superior single room but upon arrival was shown to a double room on the second floor, which was nice. The view was spectacular - large windows overlooked the river and bridge. The bathroom was a wet room, which was nice and clean. The hotel is located right in the heart of town and there are plenty of nice restaurants and bars to choose from.

I just have a couple of suggestions for improvements at the hotel:

1) the pillows were really uncomfortable. They were large, square, squishy and flat so I was having to fold them in half to get comfortable, and even then I wasn't very comfortable. Perhaps the hotel could supply some "normal" pillows?

2) It's nice the wifi was included, however the username and passwords were only valid for 24 hours at a time, and could only be used on one device. As somebody who was there on business, I needed Internet on my phone, iPad and laptop! So each day I had to ask for 3 tickets, each of which had a different username and password on (which were random letters and numbers so impossible to remember). And most annoying, it kept logging me out. Probably not an issue for someone not at the hotel on business, but perhaps the hotel could look at a simpler way of supplying Internet?

But all in all, a very pleasant stay and I was sad to leave

What a great location for a stay in Heidelberg. Right next to the old historical bridge and minutes walk from the main square. We stayed in the suite on the top floor. Very quirky with its angled ceilings. Great people watching from the top floor. The hotel is a bit tired. Not the cheapest but a good choice. Buy a bottle of wine and walk up the Philosophers Walk in the evening and watch the sunset - magical! And the castle is wonderful.

The hotel is right in the centre of town overlooking the river. The buffet breakfast was excellent, service was good, the price was fair. I had a room at the 4th floor, somewhat small but nice. To be strongly recommended.

The Hollandar Hof Hotel is a gem. We stayed four nights and you could not ask for a better location or hotel. When we arrived, we were having a problem with our cell phones and asked the receptionist if we might use their phone to call our provider and have our problem corrected. She did not hesitate and helped us dial a U.S. number before we were even checked in. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast excellent and the room was beyond belief. We had a corner room on the third floor and the view of the river and the Alt Brucke (Old Bridge) was fantastic. The room was spotless and the service excellent. The location is close to everything in old Heidelberg.
Parking is in a garage about two blocks away and the hotel has an arrangement with them so they charge only 8 Euro per day to park. That was a bargain.
The only negative comment I could make would be that their internet service is sketchy. The signal is non existent (at least from our third floor room) at night and comes and goes during the day. Other than that, you couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

Room Tip: Third floor corner if you can get it.

The location of the Hollander is perfect. It is right at the bridge that crosses the Neckar River near the old castle ruins. It is a hotel that survived World War II and housed some of the allied troops that remained after the war. Though the rooms have been altered and renovated, I believe that the central staircase remains much the same as it did when the hotel was built. Our room was a bit small but nicely furnished and quite clean. The bed was comfortable and the lighting was good. The breakfast buffet is not included in the price of the room but we decided to have the full buffet. I think that the price of the full buffet was 13 euros and there is a smaller option for 5 euros. We enjoyed the buffet and the service was very good. We were travelling by rental car and had to park it in a garage which was about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. We were given a voucher so we paid a bit of a reduced price for the parking. I recall that it was around 15 euros a day. We enjoyed walking along the river in the evening after dinner. It was very quiet as the sun was setting and it was most pleasant.

Of the 2 weeks and 5 hotels we stayed at, this was my favorite. Adequatly priced, very nice, and the most friendly and helpful staff you could ask for. The beds are very comfortable, the breakfast was good, and you can't beat the location. The location is right on the river in old town and everything you could want is near by. If you can't find it nearby, ask the front desk. They are so, so helpful. There are lots of places to eat and you are a short walk to the castle and Haupstrasse (shopping) street. Great place to stay, great value, and exceptional staff.

Room Tip: If staying during a Friday or Saturday night, try and avoid a room on one of the side streets where...

Would recommend this hotel for location, and service. Staff were friendly and helpful and you can walk everywhere in the old town area. The superior rooms were large and quiet. We thought we would check the area before deciding on breakfast but the value and food offered at the hotel was great. It is surrounded by restaurants and pubs but the best meal was the one next door that they give you a voucher for - wonderful meal. Parking is at a public station but not very far to walk and they give good directions.

Room Tip: Spend a little extra for the Superior room
