Big markpklatz, but not many vendors. The stores around it were much more interesting. I don't think there were 20 vendors when we went, but it was a Tuesday, maybe the other market day is bigger.

We spent the night in a local hotel. The next morning we took a tour of this famous marketplace and found it fantastic. A visit to the church is a must! The first church stone was laid in 1601 (city founded in 1599) and finished around 1608. It began with renaissance influence with gothic touches. Unfortunately, the church was destroyed during WWII. It was rebuilt but the stone sculptures were lost in the rebuild. There are pictures of what it looked like before the destruction though. The shops around the square offer many goods. Many specialties of the region are available. We had some Black Forest cake in the konditorei near the church....sooooooooo good!

We ate in the Market Square. Be warned, get there early everwhere shuts up at 9pm (at the height of tourist season). Madness!

We stopped because we were tired of driving and we were glad we did, tourist shop ya sure and some nice down home shops as well. The local wedding cake maker had a neat little shop, it was a coffee shop a tea room and all sorts of little sweet cakes, and if you prefer she'll pour you a shot of Jack Daniels with that little cake. The little train ride around the market was cheap and fun however the tour is done in German only. the church is a must see and if it's warm out the water fountain would be a blast. the black forest coo coo clocks and other souvenirs were ubiquitous. All taken in at a glance it was very pretty.
