The food was great. I eat out often in France and love the bistro food - simple but tasty. This was a French bistro type menu done German style. The food was simple but delicious.
My fiance had the rump steak. They didn't ask him how he wanted it but it came beautifully cooked and quite rare with an excellent sauce and great chips. I had an escalope with mushroom sauce. It said in the English and French versions of the menu that it came with potato. This was actually schnitzel of pork with with little noodles of gnocchi. The sauce was amazing.
We also shared a Black Forest dessert. It was really good. Stewed cherries, still tart, served in a hot liqueur. This accompanied cream and vanilla icecream with which it mixed beautifully.
The service was efficient but not overly friendly. I think that this must just be a German thing. The waitress was also really busy as this place seemed to be popular with locals and tourist alike.
A word of warning - I don't know if they do the menu in English. On the opposite wall outside they had brief English and French menus next to a German one. I speak French and the English one did not seem to be that well translated.
