We are loving this little hotel so much that we have decided to stay on for another night...and luckily they can accommodate us! Our rooms, one twin and two singles, are situated in the annex around the corner from the main hotel. This is not as inconvienient as it sounds. The old street outside is a delight to stroll along, and the contempory style of the accommodation is functional, clean and spacious. Great value for money, as you are in the heart of the old town. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant of the main building, which is beautiful and ornate without being musty or dreary. A lovely buffet-style selection, served on crisp tablecloths with silver coffee pots and friendly service. Excellent all round.

We arrived in town by train and it is an easy 10 minuite walk straight ahead from the station to the hotel there is also the option of tram from the station take tram 1 and get off at the city wall gate and walk approx 50 mtrs.Included is a free transport ticket for the area you can take the train to Seebrug up in the Black Forest it takes about 1 hr each way and is definitely worth it for the views.
We stayed on the 3rd floor in a room that looked out to the Munster tower it was great plenty of room great bed and pillows and very quiet breakfast was included and was ok but no hot food.
We had 2 meals at the hotel and were very satisfied with the price and quality of the food and service. If you want to stay in the old city you could not go wrong here.

My two sons and their families, my husband and I, had five rooms for four nights at the Schwarzwaelder Hof. The staff was very friendly - especially Walter and Christoph. The food was delicious in the restaurant and the included breakfast was very good. They reserved a table for us set for 12 every morning. The rooms were comfortable, modern, and exceptionally clean. The location is perfect - right in the heart of the Old City where you can walk to everything. The parking garage is also just across the street. The Muenster (the Cathedral) and the market place around it were great spots to visit and people watch. We all enjoyed our stay very much.

As the title says ,location, location, location.....it was good but does have some negative downsides. The hotel it's self was difficult to find by satnav and direct access by car was limited.. Having gone down several pedestrian streets and almost crushed by a tram we decided to pull into a car park and look for it on foot. Found within 10 minutes luckily car was in the correct car park very close to Hotel..... 10 euros a day fixed price by hotel.. Reception and checking in was quick however my friend and I were led down a small side street to the hotels annex. We had single rooms 102 and 103. 102 was the larger of the 2 the rooms opposite us were even bigger and had balconies.... The rooms were modern clean and bright. Toiletries were sparce ..... There was a lot of noise from outside as the hotel looked out onto a pedestrian thoroughfare where there was restaurants and bars..... Could have closed the windows but it wouldn't have made any difference other than wouldn't be able breathe as it was so hot.......breakfast was in the main hotel it was typical European/ German continental and was ok service was good staff were pleasant and attentive. If your a light sleeper then the annex is not for you. Would I go back? Yes but only after I tried some other places. The Indian Restaurant is a must if you like Indian food...across from the annex rooms

Room Tip: Aviod 102 ,103 and 104 annex room if your a light sleeper. 104 105 have balcony and are opposite s...

Great little hotel in the heart of Old Town Freiburg. My friend and I have stayed here many times over the past 29 years! This hotel gets better and better; with its recent renovation, the rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. Great location as it is walking distance to everywhere in the city center as well as there is a parking garage less than 50 meters away from the hotel. Not to be missed is the restaurant which has outstanding food! The best part of staying at this hotel is the owner, Walter! He is so kind and eager to please his guests and that, combined with everything else is what makes this place a 5 star stay (not to mention the competitive price).

Booked this in February through booking.com for a one night stay in July. If you are arriving by car its hard to find so make sure you know where the closest car park is, the hotel is just a very short walk from the right car park exit. When we got there though they said they had made a mistake and were overbooked. The hotel we were sent to isn't one I'd have chosen.
