Private Tour: Freiburg and Black Forest Day Trip...

Much restoration work was being carried out on the exterior of the building, from which all the streets in central Freiburg seem to radiate. Inside it was imposing but perhaps a little austere.

It is enormous, watch it carrefoully and it will bring you back to 300-400 years. It is simply majestic and at the same disquieting. A must see in Freiburg. Don't forget to go up to the tower (don't do it if you are clastrophobic), the entrance is on the right (by looking at the main entrance) of the cathedral. After more than 200 steps and 2 EUR of entrance fees, you will enjoy a spectacular view of Freiburg

Nice and peaceful cathedral. Worth a visit! You can visit the tower as well, it costs one euro or so, but it gives you a very pleasant view over the entire city!
Visited it in autumn 2011 when I lived in Freiburg.

The cathedral is situated in the centre of the city and easy to find, just follow the spire!
The best day to come is Saturday morning when the market gathers outside of the cathedral. You can pick up really fresh vegetables and the bread is superb.
The cathedral is quite daunting and a sombre affair, due mainly to the fact that it is made of dark red stone. The inside is not as grand as many other large churches in the area but still worth a visit.
It is however worth climbing the narrow stairs to the top for a view of the city and surrounding countryside.
I would plan on spending about 20 minutes in the cathedral and about 1 hour in the market. However there are some great small coffee places just of the side streets from the main centre.

Munster begins in 1200 century with their famous bell ( the Hosana ) was cast in 1258 century.
Now at 2013, the Hosana is still loud and clear with its medieval sound, which will brings your imagination back in time of horses with carriages on cobble stones.
Admiring the interior and exterior architectural work, makes one wonder the love of their craftsmenship.
Last but not least, I bought a piece of the little red sandstone with the Munster seal.
It's the best souvenir from Freiburg, a piece of history. The funds will go back to the Munster for restoration......
