“Aussies in Freiburg”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2012

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and found it to be a great place to stay. Apparently we rec'd a room upgrade (not requested) and the room was 357 on the top floor with a nice view of the gardens and Munster cathedral. As with other reviews, we found the room a little warm, but the windows open so it didn't matter - September isn't hot. Again, as in other reviews, the staff are a highlight here (esp. Kim on the front desk) - very helpful & cheerful. Breakfast was excellent. We parked under the hotel which was easy & convenient. When we checked out to continue our road trip, the staff insisted on providing us with bottles of sparkling mineral water, muesli bars and chocolates, ... how good is that ! Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the park is nice and may be a bit quieter.

We stayed 2 nights here en route to the Südtirol area. The hotel is very convenient for exploring the town, the room was comfortable and breakfast good, the dishes of snacks on the front dest also much appreciated. The staff are all very friendly and helpful ...I left a jacket behind and this was posted to my home address after one email, so thanks for that.
The only slight criticism would be the lack of air con which made the room very warm and stuffy-but I guess I should have asked for a fan.

I would stay here again if i ever find myself in Freiburg.

Room Tip: A higher floor will cut down on street noise.

While travelling to Freiburg we chose this place mostly because of the location. This was a right guess!
It is very well located just next to the park, old town is 2 min walk, they do have a garage which is very much appreciated in this city. The free wifi is available in the hotel, breakfast was good too.
The team is very friendly responding every single need you have. They are very child friendly and supportive, too. Welcoming drinks, water, snacks...that was very nice!
The rooms are not so large but ok. We had a parkview which we really enjoyed.
Nice and comfortable place to stay on your way like 1 or 2 nights.

I stayed here for over two weeks because of a housing mixup with the local university. The staff was always friendly and helped in any way they could. Instead of a single, I received a double twin room with extra space and I was thankful for it. The breakfast included in the room rate was awesome and even though there are no coffee makers in the room you can ask anytime for an espresso or cappuccino from the front desk.

I stayed across the street at the Best Western for one night, and so did my cousins visiting from Munich, and we all agreed the customer service at the Park Hotel Post was 10x better. Even to the point my cousins walked over to my hotel to ask for information instead of asking at the Best Western front desk.

The location is great, only a 2 minute walk from the train station and at most 10 minutes from the furthest point in the Altstadt (old city area). The staff speaks perfect English so no problems if your German isn't that great. Also the wifi is super fast and I never had a problem connecting on multiple devices. Overall, out of the two other hotels I stayed at in Freiburg during my housing debacle (Hotel Colombi and Best Western Victoria) I would highly recommend the Park Hotel Post. The only issue would be the lack of a/c which isn't a problem unless you stay there in the height of the summer. Even then the room had a cool Dyson fan and I'm sure the front desk would provide you with anything else you would need to keep cool. I've stayed in many hotels in Germany and the Park Hotel Post is definitely top 5 in customer service for Americans.

A very nice hotel, well prepared staff! We arrived with a problem in our rented car and the girls at the reception were very helpfull. They call to rental company and solved our problem in a few minutes. The room was nice too, and the shower excelent. The location was perfect too, close to the altstadt, stores and restaurants. We will be back for sure!!!!

Well equipped room with view over the park - although we needed a fan due to the heat wave currently affecting Germany. An excellent Dyson fan was provided. The park is lovely but does attract homeless people and a fair bit of rowdy drinking can go on there too. The hotel has a really cool underground garage so worth reserving a space. The breakfast is good with lots of choice of scrambled eggs, fruits, fresh rolls, ham and cheese - very good value. The location is also very good as it only takes a few minutes to walk to the old town. There is a chemist and a supermarket with bakery just across the road as well. The room was super clean and we stayed for 3 nights - a home from home. All in all highly recommended and good value.

Room Tip: See above about the park - best views but can be noisy - although I suspect the front is noisier sti...

We only stayed in the Park Hotel Post for one night as it was a stop over on our way to Italy. We arrived about 4pm and found it easily. The location is good - about 5 minutes walk to the centre of the old part of the city. Slightly annoying is the fact that parking outside the hotel is free but at that time was full. Therefore you have little choice but to park in the hotel underground car park. Very handy but 9 Euros per night. A little cheeky. However the hotel overall was such good value I didn't mind too much. Our room was very comfortable - good size and great view out over the street. Very comfortable beds with nice pillows. Buffet breakfast the next morning was relaxed with a good choice. My only other gripe is that there was no air conditioning in our room. In August it was very hot! We opened the windows which was fine but unfortunately the street is very busy early in the morning with deliveries etc. so we did get woken up. So a few moans but overall for a short stay I think this hotel is excellent value for money and I would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask if any have air conditioning and if they do, pick one of those!
