also and authentic and excellent representation of old-world, home cooked food. Ate lunch and dinner here on two consecutive days. I would return again. The food arrived fast and was fresh and outstanding = same for the beer (which goes without saying in Germany). The restaurant was on the market square area across from the Cathedral - nice afternoon sun outside

“5 stars for location, 4 for food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2012

This restaurant sits right on the Munsterplatz across from the cathedral. The ambiance is so incredible that Wifey claims this is the best place we've ever eaten. I'm not going that far but it was very cool to be sitting outside in the square, drinking my beer, and eating my schnitzel.

Food was pretty good, not the best we had but since we were there after 9:30pm we got the late night menu. It looked very lively inside the restaurant with good decor. Staff spoke good English.

“A great lunch in Freiburg”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2012

My husband and I had a delightful lunch here. We were able to get a table sitting outside in the sun, with a wonderful view of the Munster. Our waiter was very pleasant and immediately brought us an English menu once he realised we weren't deciphering the German one very well. The square was quite busy with lots of people out and about, making for a good outdoor atmosphere. We had a simple lunch, both of us ordering the poached salmon on fresh asparagus with an orange piquant sauce. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. Overall, a great lunch.

“Couldn't fault our dining experience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2012

The restaurant was recommended by the hotel staff where we stayed in Freiburg, along with a couple of other recommendations. We did not have a reservation and we were seated upstairs, almost as an apology, no problems for us as the seemed perfect for the circumstances. All of the food and wine was above expectations, the two male staff looking after us were impeccable and did a wonderful job putting up with our bad german (english speaking was no problem at all). I am very happy to recommend this restaurant.

“Expensive, traditional menus with creative, careful flare”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2012

Expensive restaurant, but with great attention to detail and preparation. Portions smaller than one might expect but still plenty. Ambiance is beautifully traditional and worth eating here just to soak it in.
