Description: The taste experiences that have made Harald Wohlfahrt one of Europe's best chefs await you at Schwarzwaldstube in Baiersbronn. A master of flavours, his compositions create an incredibly light and perfect cuisine – delicate, intense, full-flavoured and delicious at the same time. Sommelier Stéphane Gass pairs each course with a subtle wine from Traube's outstanding cellar.

“Outstanding but not amazing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2010

This restaurant is a 3 star Michelin and you will not go hungry. The food was hearty with large potions which is rather unusual for the typical fine dining experience of small portions and fine food design. The chef is well respected but he overdoes it a little with each dish i.e. too much different foods on the plate. The plates were a little overloaded for a fine dining experience. So don't eat before you go. The wine Sommelier that served us was really a disastor. As relatively experienced wine drinkers our wine was served about 4 degrees too cold and he just dumped it all in our glass. We were never asked for a dessert wine and he seemed particulary inexperienced. He challenged us on the wine we choose and we felt highy insulted. There seemed to be other Sommeliers in the room but ours certainly did not fit in a fine dining restaurant. He definitely needed more training if he had announced that our wine was cold at the start we would have respected that he informed us which is normal and professional. So the overall food experience was excellent however the wine setup was definitely a visible issue throughout the restaurant. What was particularly nice was the restaurant did not have a stiff atomsphere. A downside was other tables with cameras and flashes constantly during the meal so peace & privacy was a little intruded upon. Also young kids were allowed.

Very high level - doing a bit too much, missing the "natural" originality
