Although not in the centre of town, the hotel is still convenient and it's a lovely walk along the river to get there. Very traditional European hotel with no tv in the room, but plenty of character. We have stayed there 3 times now and found the owners to be very friendly and helpful.

I stayed for two nights in the off-season in this hotel. It is not in the center of Baden-Baden, but is a nice 25-minute walk along the river into town, past a park and some gorgeous homes.

The hotel is great value for the money. No, there isn't a tv in the room, but for the rate (we paid 42 euros a night for a double with no shower/toilet, but the toilets and shower room were adjacent to our room and no one else was using them!) it can't be beat. The room was a good size, the bed firm but comfortable, and the room was tidy and clean. Towels and toiletries were provided, which we hadn't expected.

The breakfast is a typical German affair - rolls, a tray of cheese slices, a tray of sliced meats, juice, some muesli, some canned fruit, and coffee or tea. Again, considering it's included in your room rate, it's a good deal. The owner who was running the breakfast room and took care of our bill was not particularly friendly, but was a typical no-nonsense German woman.

Don't forget to grab the discount card when it's offered at breakfast - it's good for 10 percent off spa services at the thermal baths as well as other places in town. It offsets the 2.80 euros charge levied by the town (in addition to your room rate).

Overall I would say don't expect American amenities, just enjoy the clean room and spend your time (and money!) out in the town.

We found this place through the Rick Steve's guidebook. It was OK. The hotel was nearly empty during our stay yet they put us up on the fourth floor with only old, deteriorating stairs to get to it.

The room was average, though it lacked a shower. The shower and toilet were down the hall. The man who was manning the counter when we checked in was unable to inform us if there was a charge for using our international phone card from our room phone. The woman who was there the next day told us there was a .50 euro charge per call. The internet in the "guest recreation room" was on an old computer running windows 95 with a dial-up modem! They wanted to charge 1 Euro for ten minutes and then another .10 Euro for every minute after that!

The breakfasts were OK but the tea did not taste right. Even though it was a buffet and all-you-can-eat, she scowled at us when we went up for more orange juice and then started putting stuff away.

During check-out she decided to raise the price of our rooms 10% higher than agreed to in the email that we booked the room with and the rate that we confirmed upon check-in.

Don't waste your time, just another of RS's screwups.

We stayed here in early July by suggestion from
Rick Steve's .. it's a nice quaint hotel but about 15 minute
bus ride away from center of baden-baden. The room
size was large for a hotel in this class (this is a B&B type hotel or motel like in the US/Canada). We left early in the morning
and only stayed one night so unsure of how their breakfast was.

Of warning, to non-european travellers, many of the hotels
do not have air con, fortunately we were ok given that
the weather was cool at the time, but in the hot season
in germany it may be unbearable.

Inexpensive hotel (62 Euro), 15 minutes away from the center. The room was big, but everything (furniture, carpet) was rather worn out. The owner (Frau Peter) is unfriendly and scolding. Bad experience, not worth the money.

Our expectations for this hotel were fairly low since we actually messed up on our reservation. We thought our reservation was for the Deutscher Kaiser on Merkurstrasse which is located centrally where all the main attractions are. However, to our surprise this inn was not as far from the town center and main train station as we thought. A quick bus ride took about 10min. The stops are located conveniently across the street from the inn and came every 15-20min. The hotel itself was as basic as it can get. No frills, not even a T.V in the room. The room and bathroom was fairly tiny. The sink area for the bathroom was external from the toilet and MINI shower. We pretty much just used the inn to sleep since the location was in a quiet residential area, however it was considered on one of the main street. There was a restaurant downstairs which was part of the hotel, but it closed by 9 pm even on the weekends. There’s a solarium across the street but that’s pretty much it. The closes civilization (a mini market and cinema) was two bus stops away. Although this inn was far from luxurious, and barely comfortable, the hotel owner was very friendly. Upon arrival she had brochures of all the sites in Baden-Baden. She was very helpful in suggesting getting a day bus pass (good for 5 people) for 6 EUR even though we had only 2 persons since a single day passes would have cost 4EUR each. She also had discount tickets for the two largest spas in Baden-Baden. It appeared this hotel also organized sight-seeing tours to nearby towns in the Black Forest, but unfortunately we only stayed the weekend so didn’t have a chance to check it out. So, even though we thought we made a big mistake in booking the wrong Deutscher Kaiser, it turned out enjoyable.

Just spent 2 nights at this nice hotel in Baden Baden. The owners (husband, wife, mother) speak great English, and were very responsive on email prior to our arrival. The map they provide on their website is quite detailed and helpful when driving into town. We found the hotel with ease.

The decor is a bit dated and some things in the room were dusty, but for the price paid, it was fine with us. We didn't spend too much time in the room. The beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast had a nice selection.

The owners were very helfpul with all of our needs. We would definitely stay here again.
