Hotel Schweizer Hof
Ranked #26 of 50 Hotels in Baden-Baden

We were travelling by motorbike and so the location was easy to find with free parking right outside being a bonus.

Our room was 21 at the front of the hotel providing very spacious accommodation. The only downside was although the WIFI was great downstairs, the signal disappeared in the room.

Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and staff very pleasant.

The hotel is slightly tired but, with a location just on the outskirts but a very easy walk into the centre, is a very good value choice for Baden Baden.

I stayed at the Schweizer Hof alone for a few days of leisure. I had a special price trough booking at the last minute trough some website. The hotel is well situated, reached in less than a 10 minutes bus ride from the Baden-Baden train station, bus stop less than 2 minutes walk from the hotel door (the "city" center itself is anyway too far from the station to be reached on foot; the bus system is really convenient). I felt perfectly safe there as a solo woman traveler. The staff at the desk and even more those at the breakfast room were smiling, helpful and efficient. The room was ok, clean, well located at the back of the hotel (no noise, except maybe a few people speaking outside). Room cleaned daily and towels changed daily (even tough I did not ask them to be changed). Two sorts of pillows to chose from, extra blankets (not needed during this hot summer days!). One free bottle of mineral water in the room (and this terribe Milka chocolate... they could have offered real Swiss chocolate since is it the "Schweizer" Hof, no?). Breakfast buffet with lots of food and drinks to choose from (organic eggs and yoghurt). Free wifi. The hotel is conveniently located (less than 15 minutes walk in the pedestrian streets to the Thermal Bath). The city is really nice anyway. The only thing that puzzled me is that in reality the front of the hotel is not as bright red as in the picture... so either the photoshoped the picture, either the front color faded... anyway, this does not change the quality of this hotel.

Wonderful stay , very friendly staff, big clear room, perfect location for Philipe's Jaroussky's concert in Festspielhaus (this is what I came for). Certainly would like to stay is this hotel again. However the pleasure is too expensive for me. As for breakfast, it was not a big deal (unless you like cheese very much, there was plenty of it). And sleep quality can be better were they have more modern mattress for my back. Anyway, thanks a lot.

Stayed in room 21. Has a mini balcony, en-suite shower room and high ceiling with a chandelier. Free wifi and satellite tv. There is no aircon. But the window opens. Staff are friendly. Good access by foot to the centre of town and relatively good prices. Takes 5 -10 minutes to walk into the centre, with the pedestrian zone around 3 minutes from the hotel. Second visit here and would come again

My husband and I recently stayed overnight at the Hotel Schweizer Hof. After one week of exploring Southern Germany, Baden-Baden was a perfect ending to our visit. Our hotel room was very clean, comfortable with lovely views out the main front window of the park across the way. (I loved the chandelier in the center of the room.) The room was spacious, and although the bathroom shower was small, it was larger than those we had encountered in several other hotels. The breakfast was usual German fare, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Because it was a holiday, we parked directly in front of the hotel for free! The following morning, we were able to keep the car where it was and paid approximately 1 euro for one and one-half hours' time. The metered time doesn't start until 8AM, so it worked out well for us.
Baden-Baden itself was simply lovely. If you're a Rick Steve's fan, the Self-Guided Walk was perfect for us. The tulips were in bloom, as were the many azalea and rhododendrons. The walk into to town and over to the Caracalla and Frederichsbad area was very interesting, and we walked through the museum area where you could see part of the ancient Roman bath remains. My husband spent two hours in the Frederichsbad bath, and I almost didn't recognize him when he walked out. I've never seen him so relaxed, and he raved about the experience. The area felt very much like a relaxed, much less crowded Paris. Of course, there wasn't the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower, but it was beautiful all the same. We highly recommend a day or two in the Baden-Baden area, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Room Tip: We were on the 2nd floor (officially the 3rd), but the stairs are accessible and there is an elevato...

Great location 10 mins walk from centre of town and large, comfortable room. Clean; helpful staff; good breakfast. Beds softer than we are used to, but still comfortable. Parking in the next-door Festspielhaus carpark under Euros 10 per day.
Baden Baden charming and comfortable for a no-stress break. Beware of the combination of city's one way road system and roadworks, which makes GPS almost useless.

We stayed here to celebrate a 30th birthday and found it to be the perfect location as a home base for shopping in the pedestrian areas of Baden-Baden and visiting the spas. Our room (the first one on the left) was enormous (likely because we requested an extra bed as we had 3 people), the beds were super comfortable (including the extra bed which was a regular mattress on a bench-type-thing), and the decor was charming with a huge crystal chandelier and a view onto the street.

The spas are a leisurely 20 minute walk through the pedestrian area (take a right out of the hotel and in about 500 meters you'll see the pedestrian area on the left) with lots of shopping through there, but since the hotel is just beyond that area it stayed nice and quiet at night. We noticed several tapas restaurants that seemed fun in the immediate vicinity of the hotel to the left (opposite direction of the pedestrian area), but didn't try them as they all seemed to open at 6:00 and that was when we wanted to go to the spa.

Breakfast was typical European fare- no hot foods, but plenty of deli meats and cheeses with fruit, breads and cereals. The staff were friendly and helpful. Also, they have coupons to the Carcarella spa that basically give one free hour (I believe the coupon was something like, "Pay for 2 hours and get the 3rd free", but we used it to pay for 3 and get the 4th free).

Overall, we loved this hotel and it suited our needs to a T. We liked that it wasn't right in the heart of the pedestrian area. We stayed on a Saturday night and found street parking (which was free after 6) right next to the hotel. The price was great and I would probably just re-book here if we ever ventured back to Baden Baden.
