We used the hotel as a base for one night as we started our journey through the Black Forest.

The hotel was in a great location which is why the parking was an issue I suppose, the hotel has it's own car park at the rear which is not the easiest to find.

The hotel was well decorated and the rooms were spacious and had been recently updated. The beds were great and the bathrooms were spotlessly clean. The staff were helpful - nothing was a problem.

The grandness of the hotel is still present with the central staircase and so on, although in my view the current decor doesn't do the building full justice.

The breakfast was good with a plentiful selection of breads, meats cheeses, cereals etc., no problems here.

I would stay again - no issues.

We've stayed at this hotel in Baden Baden for four fantastic nights (July-August 2012). Large charming and quiet rooms, breakfast buffet in the garden, nice personnel, parking for our car... Average price, a few expensive but worth paying for it. The city is great, by the way.

We stayed here for two nights in mid June. It has a prime location in downtown Baden Baden which is one of the most charming places I have been to. The hotel itself is older and therefore not super modern but the room was spacious. One drawback was no air conditioning. The breakfast was excellent and there is a lovely outdoor courtyard at the back for entertaining guests. The staff was helpful even with the language barrier. It has a certain charm and old world feel to it. Very nice stay.

I think that the service recived in the Hotel was good, but not the best. Everything you need to ask for, nothing comes easy, we've received our room and didn't like it, it's looked totally different form the website, so we've told that to the staff and they gave us another room only after I've mentioned that I'm planning to review this hotel online.
The new room had no view, but was a bit nicer. The breakfast was nicely served, not a wide selection though. The hotel used to be beautiful, but it's great days are gone. The park outside is very nice, the location is ok for restaurants and shopping, but the room decor and the service makes you wish for something different.

The Sophienpark is a beautifully restored hotel set in the center of the most picturesque place in Baden-Baden.

Pros:
Location - Again, I can't stress on the absolute convenience of the location. It is just 10 meters from Leopoldsplatz, one of the central hubs of Baden-Baden. There are several cafes, gelatarias and restaurants within walking distance; not to mention the walking streets where you can spend a lot of time shopping.
Rooms - The rooms are extremely spacious, and leave nothing to be desired. The toilets are clean, and there are no problems at all with the rooms.

Price - for the location, size of the rooms and the good breakfast selection, I'd say the slightly expensive rates are worth it. A word of caution - rooms facing the garden may have an extra charge for the view, so confirm with the reception when you book or check in.

Parking is available behind the hotel, and a valet will help you with your car.

It has a fantastic garden where you can relax after a nice breakfast.

Overall - definitely recommended.

Room Tip: If you're not too keen on the best view, you may not feel it worthwhile to pay extra for the gar...

Wonderful
The Holland Sophien Hotel, is just what I needed, Peaceful, Friendly, Serviceable, Great breakfast & virtually in the centre, 2 min walk from the main shops 5 min from the casino… The reception staff were extremely friendly and couldn’t have helped me more. The continental breakfast was small but it really had a bit of everything to cater every need.
There’s always good things and bad things, the only bad things that I could find is that there is only 1 lift, so if its broken like it was when I was there you need to walk up a very big and nice flight of stairs to get to your room, ok if you have no cases, but if you have!!! It has no spa (sauna etc) and some areas could be renovated, it is a very old hotel, understandable!, but some areas of the room could be renovated.
Over all I give it a 8+ out of 10…

Stayed there for a convention. Baden is a beautiful city. Rooms are extremely expensive. Value for money is very low. As a matter of fact, this is probably the most expensive room for which I pay any one year. even more expensive than a room in NYc in December or Munich in October. Staff do their best but are not used to business clients. Avoid the breakfast.
