I have been to Tignes/Val d Isere many times but this was my best skiing trip ever, superb conditions, charming but elegant Club Village and the slopes are out of this world. Had the best ski week ever, did nearly all the slopes and off piste skiing there is in Val d'Isere and went over to the Grand Motte several Times. La Vallee Perdu, Col Pers, Col de l'Iseran, you name it we did it with a charming ski guide from the Ecole de Ski Francaise named Serge, could not have been more professional and polite.

The village is first class, though the food offer could have been a bit more select, particularly the bar food served was a bit meagre, but then the free drinks at the bar and at the restaurant and the totally delightful staff of the club more than made up for the smallish rooms and the fact that the club is a little at the edge of the village.

Can't wait to go back, have the post holiday blues already.

Room Tip: Go there if you really like skiing and a delightful, sportive crowd. Speaking a French helps.

we stayed at this club on the week of March 18-25 for the first time, the hotel is very nice and the skiing possibilities are wonderful. The skiroom is spacous and comfortable. Please note that you can ask at the reception at any morning to have lunch at the Club Med at Tigne Val Claret (No extra charge), and this enables a longer day of skiing . As for the restaurants, the main restaurant is a bit overcrowded, but the food is good and the service is excellent. If you want you can order dinner at the more exclusive restaurant Le chalet du charvait. and enjoy a classier dinner. with local specialties. We had Salmon tartae and assortment of meats on a hot stone + delicious desserts. The lobby is spacious and is divided to many cosy sitting areas/ In addition the GO's were super nice especially at the reception. and the chef du village was "present everywhere at the same time",always ready to help and to solve any problem that may arise. The big surprise was the level of the evening shows, that unlike the conventional club style performances, this time it was really worth watching.

The resort overall is well presented and comfortable. As far as somewhere to stay goes, this CM is excellent. The location is good, with a short walk and bus ride into the centre of town. The facilities for skiing gear and the organisation of lessons are all excellent. The rooms are small but comfortable with good storage areas for boots and drying gear. The food is varied and tasty and unless you are particularly fond of Savoyard food, I would steer clear of the restaurant and stick with the buffet.

There were a couple of issues with this CM. The bus ride to the village from the airport was comical with one bus leaving a group of guests behind and a pit stop on the way that served expensive, tasteless food in a venue that no doubt featured pole dancing in the evening. The bus ride back to the airport wasn't much better with lost luggage and vague GOs slowing down the departure.

We have stayed at several Club Meds and you get used to the GOs and what they add to a village. Usually they are friendly, keen to help and pretty efficient. At this village, the GOS (with the exception of a few) were a disgrace. They were more interested in talking to each other in the reception than helping the guests out and would continue to chat away in French while "serving" guests. They all croweded around the bar in the evening in small groups which meant guests struggled to get to the bar. They were also pushy and I felt like they were there purely for their own amusement. In one incident a GO all but pushed us out of a lift because it meant it she would have to stop an extra floor. In another, a long line of guests were queuing for pizza (which was excellent) and two GOs just pushed straight to the front of the line. Small, trivial things but completely unacceptable when you're paying the premium for CM. I also didn't understand the dancing and costumes in the morning - seemed out of context and purely for the entertainment of the GOs rather than the GMs. This is all strange because the Chief Eric, was an amazing guy. He seemed to be everywhere all the time and personally carried my skis onto the snow for three mornings. He may be trying to do too much and needs to start delegating to his lazy team.

Another issue was with the cleaner who continually left our door unlocked and also left the balcony door open one day. We complained twice to the GOs but clearly our complaints weren't heard.

I have mixed feelings about this resort. All in all, we had a GREAT time. We met fabulous people and the ski lessons and ski organisation were all excellent. Eric, the chief is doing a great job but unfortunately his team is letting him down. We love CM and all it usually offers but this time, the GOs attitude was so poor it did affect things. If Eric could get the right team around him, this would be one of the best CMs around.

Would I go back? Absolutely. If you've never been to CM before, you probably wouldn't even notice the poor performance of the GOs so I would recommend this resort. Ultimately at CM Val d'Isere you're there ski and the facilities to do this are excellent.

Room Tip: Away from the bar/theatre - it gets loud at night.

Stayed the 4th march for a week and took single occupation of a room which has had the bathroom refurbishment still a bit small for two to share but worked for one. Good location for skiing if you are intermediate or above as the runs back can be a little difficult. The new pool is good but a little cold. They also put in a whirlpool at the end but it is not warm. Not sure why ? The ski groups can be a hit and miss. Generally more ski guide than a lesson. Food is good and plentiful. The night cabarets are boring and not sure why club med still bothers with it. A little away from the town centre when you go out for the evening. But overall nice hotel and staff.

The piste side location of this CM village is excellent. As usual the food and service at Club Med is top notch. The rooms are nicely sized and in very good condition. It feels new. The lunchtime deck BBQs and DJs were a highlight in the sunshine. WiFi in the lounge is good and we needed it badly when the Volcano blew and we need to find an alternative way home. CM were veery helpful and allowed us to stay extra days until we got out.

We have skied with Club Med for the past 6 years, and the all-inclusive formula is perfect for groups with different food & entertainment like and ski abilities.

We booked a Deluxe Suite at Val d'Isere Club Med, spending £400 more for the extra lounge space. 2 weeks beforehand we got a call with an upgrade offer for the 5 trident area. We had to accept this! A five trident suite is exactly double the price of the club room. For this you get a taxi transfer to and from the airport (2.5 hours) instead of a coach; a suite of rooms about 3-4 time larger than a club room, this room containing a large bathroom (large bath and shower), a lounge and more wardrobes then you would ever need; there is also a balcony and drinks fridge and an espresso maker in the room. The hotel room wins my award for the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. The 5 trident guests also have their own boot-room with double sized lockers and separate straight to slope access and an outdoor jacuzzi. Champagne is served in the 5 trident lounge every night by its own dedicated staff. The whole effect is that from the moment you step out of the airport you feel very very special. An upgrade also gets you free access to the Hammam and upgraded toilettes as well, so you'll even smell better. The upshot of this is that, whilst I am covered in bruises from ski lifts and poles, and my legs are still recovering, I have never come back from a ski holiday feeling so relaxed and chilled out.

The dining facilities (except the speciality restaurant) is shared with the rest of the hotel, and this is a very large hotel, so we are speaking about a lot of people and it gets hectic. The pool area is very busy between 4-6pm the rest of the time it is spacey and of a decent size to have a really good swim and jacuzzi session. The bar area stands out for having plenty seating, not a given at Club Med.

I agree with some of the comments, the staff here (with the exception of the 5 trident staff who are delightful for obvious reasons) are often distracted and detached. The night-time and lunchtime activities seem to be conducted for their own amusement (loudly) and there is little volunteered interaction with the patrons. It can feel like they are volunteering on some sort of charity camp, gaining language experience as they go, instead of employeed in a commercial venture. This would have affected our group more, had we not also been relatively young and happy to party. It is possible to go to this Club Med without speaking French, but a little will go a long way.

Val d’Isere is a lovely resort, the snow was fantastic this year, and there is a great mix of off-piste, tree lined, and open bashed pistes. It is very well connected to the Tignes resort as well. There is more than enough to keep even an experienced skier happy for a few weeks. 2 tricky and steep Black runs are also there for the challenge. I got to do a ski-paraglide off the nearest red to the hotel with my instructor which was amazing fun, and well worth enquiring about. Ask for Richard to take you of the weather is pleasant. I would not, however, go there on peak weeks and children’s holidays. The pistes were already very busy, and could move into dangerously packed without not many more skiers.

Overall I loved this resort and hotel but my experience is rose-tinted by having a fantastic room and VIP treatment. This experience would also need to be mediated by the price of a suite, which is high.

Room Tip: Consider renting your skis at Snowberry and call them to pick you up from the Hotel. Their skis can...

First impression when we arrived was disappointing , the reception staff require more training , they tried to charge supplement for food and ski hire, luckily I had taken our invoice which showed we were all inclusive and had already pre paid for ski hire. But this was our only problem. The rest of the time was absolutely brilliant , can't recommend it enough.

Room Tip: We had club room for two, just near lift, -3 floor, no problem with noise
