“Definitely not a 4 start”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2012

Booked this hotel via Crystal and was sadly disappointed with the place. A room for four actually did not even have one bed. In fact so disappointed that I paid an additional 1100 eros to move to the Hôtel l'Aigle des Neiges, which ironically has the same star rating, yet has very modern and well kept rooms, indoor pool and spa facilities, excellent service, secure ski and boot room, great entertainment in the hotel bar and all of the standard of a 5 star hotel. My point is that there is no on this planet that the Pierre & Vacances Residence Les Chalets de Solaise should be rated as a four start. I have stayed in better 2 start accommodation.

Room Tip: For around the same rice I would recommend Hôtel l'Aigle des Neiges.

In a town like Val, there are not many places that offer up such low rates for accommodation which makes this a likely selection for big groups of friends managing to many different budgets. On the positives: the in-house ski rental, close proximity to lifts, short walk to shops and village drag. The downside for us was that it is SUPER basic. Some rooms have been recently refurbished and if you are lucky to get one of them, great, if not, uh-oh! The rooms are self catering and include a micro wave, fridge (not very effective), dishwasher (not very effective) so you can eat in if you wish. The receptionists are not the most helpful and the heating is pretty poor (even in our newly furnished room). Keep in mind that in some rooms the hot water runs out after a couple of showers. There is a common area with a central wood fire but this runs out very quickly and hotel staff are not around to help relight it so keep beer handy to stay warm. It is a fairly large common space though with a pool table.

Room Tip: A5 is recently furnished on the first floor (by the reception) and of a good size for a couple or sm...

Stayed here from the 21st jan till 28th jan,the hotel is centrally located In val d isere, 2 min walk from the coach station where you get dropped off! Took us a while to find it(get off the coach walk back down the road and it's through a drive on the right, next to a white house)upon on arrival friendly greeting, our room was easy to access on the same level, the carpet in the hallways is worn out and needs changing!rooms are basic with the alpine wood look, got everything you need for cooking etc, has a telly all French channels and a little balcony! The shower isn't much use as the head is at waist level, the shower hose broke split twice but they changed it straight away! Has a heated swimming pool which is nice and it's surrounded by snow, has a Little gym sauna etc! All the local shops are near aswell!overall it is a 3 out of 5 whith a bit of modernising they could up that!

I stayed at these appartments last week for 3 nights. Before i left i checked trip advisor and was a bit worried about where we were going to end up !!
However my worries were quickley dismissed when we got into our appartment,Fantastic. The appartment had been full refurbed and is one of the best ski hotels i have stayed in. The only downside is the public areas which do need to be refurbished. The sauna and pool areas were good as is the location,a very central hotel.
Enjoy..

Room Tip: we were in rooms b204 and b205 average veiws but all very new inside.

This place has definitely seen better days. It has a reasonably good location (except if you're dragging skis) but not much else positive to say. The pool that is prominant in the photos on the P&V website was shut and covered during the entire stay, the bed was a pull down from the wall that we had to make ourselves, and the kicker was the 2 sheets left on a toilet roll and being told we had to buy any extras ourselves. Given the supermarkets (which are very good and close by) sell in minimum of 4 I think the C de S is doing a roaring trade on the resale of toilet rolls! Val D'Isere itself is a great place to visit / ski.

Basic apartment but good value as Val D'Isere is quite expensive. Has everything you need for self cateriing including dishwasher, fridge, hob and microwave but no oven. Decent sized bathroom with shower. Studio has 1 double bed and 2 singles plus table and 4 chairs. There is also a heated outdoor swimming pool which is fun to use in the evening when it's dark outside. Fairly central to shops and restaurants and reasonably close to ski lifts (about 10 mins walk). Staff are friendly and helpful.

I went to Val D'isere with a group of friends... We had an excellent time, what a place! Unfortunately Pierre & Vacances Residence Les Chalets de Solaise is not what we were expecting from our travel company review and pictures. The rooms are small and very worn. The staff were very unhelpful and not in the slightest bit friendly. The lockers in the ski room are too small to fit all the snowboards and skis for each room.

The outdoor heated pool is pretty cool and its nice and hot, but you have to be there around 5pm when they pull the cover off, its getting cold by 6pm.

I've been to many resorts around Europe but, this is easily the worst accomadation I have stayed in any Ski resort.
