“Outstanding - Would Go Back In a Second”

Just came back from a stay here. A group of 9 people, and we all felt that our trip could not have been much better. Part of that was our stay here. The staff were all very attentive, any requests (extra towels, bedding, etc, etc) were met in an extremely timely manner. One of the fastest response times of any hotel I have every stayed in. The staff went above and beoynd, without even being asked. I don't want to identify what they did to go above and beyond, but let me just say that whatever your needs, they did everything within their power to make sure you were as comfortable as possible, and had whatever you wanted at your disposal. Congratulations. You have my business anytime.

I have been staying at luxury hotels a fair bit, some of them located in famous ski resorts (e.g. Riffelalp 2222m in Zermaat), and my expectations are pretty high when it comes to the atmosphere, level of service, facilities and culinary experience. The Tstanteleina proved to be a superb experience on all counts.

The bar is trendy yet has a very warm Alpine feel to it. The spa, a taste of Asia, has all a luxury spa should offer. The Chef surpassed my expectations and the Chef de Salle / Sommelier was a delight, adding a lots of value.

This hotel is tightly run by passionate owners. You feel it the minute you check in, which I plan to do again frequently in the near future.

I m use to go to 4/5 star hotel..
I arrived, they didnt know i was coming, same for my friend 2 days later.
NO curtain in the shower, they dont change the toilet paper EVERY DAY, dont replace the cleaning kit (cotton bud etc..), we found a slice of METAL in the breakfast. I had intoxication 45 mn after breakfast.
Hair dryer is the lowest power ever.
The staff entered in my room even if i put their fckg : DO NOT DISTURB.
In my friends room they couldn t open the closet to put their clothes bcoz it was block by the the bed.
2 of my friend had to change of room.
So many things.....
I spoke with the onwer, his answer : I m sorry we ll try to do better for the rest of you trip...
Not even a discount...AHHAHAHA
Price of the room 280 euros... what a shame
SERIOUSLY, JUST DON T GO THERE.......

Go to : LE BLIZZARD just beside, it s definitly better

We were there for four nights. We booked on B+B basis but then wanted to have our option for half-board open for some nights. Although the reservations guy said over the phone this kind of flexibillity was not possible (either all BB or all HB), upon our arrival we managed to agree with the front office to get the first night on BB basis and the rest on HB basis. And we did not regret that, at all. French-fusion style dinners were just perfect at the elegant dinner/breakfast lounge.
We had reserved for a mountain view room about 3 months before our arrival. At the time we checked in, we were offered to choose from the two available rooms both of which were on the first floor and hardly had clear mountain view (rooms on upper levels and on the la daille side have a better view as the view of rooms on the fornet side is blocked by ormeuline hotel). Our room was tastefully and newly decorated and was very clean. There were enough cabinets and space, which is quite functional at a ski holiday . It would have been just perfect if there were a mirror sized for the body and if the bath tube had a curtain or something like that to block the shower water to spill on the floor. But, nevermind, we managed.
Le "M" Bar (M stands for Margot, charming hotel owner) is a blend of classy, lounge, warm mountain bar with comfy sofas and english arm-chairs. Cocktails and the a-la-minute food were great.
Pool and the spa areas are also well-decorated and relaxing. However therapy rooms not being well-isolated from the ringing phones or other customers' unintended conversations kills the serenity feeling thet you need during a therapy. On the plus side the therapists were quite capable and polite.
The ski room at the bottom of the building is quite functional but a bit smelly.
All the staff were extremely polite, helpful and family-like, which adds to the quality and being pampered feeling.
We spent a very good time, received quality attention and stayed comfortably at this 2007 renovated val d'isere landmark hotel. Thanks Margot.

We recently returned from a one week stay at the recently beautifully renovated and upgraded Tsanteleina……..we were travelling from Australia with a 23 month old son and a 10 week old daughter! From the moment we arrived, and throughout our stay, the warmth of the welcome from the “baggagist” Geoffroi to all the staff at the front desk, and the maitre d’Hotel and waiting staff in the restaurant was wonderful. They couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. This was particularly appreciated as travelling with young children, no matter how well behaved, is not a stress-free pursuit!!!
The room was comfortable, very functional and warm………if a little cramped with two porta-cots! The food in the restaurant was of a very high quality with excellent choices (we were on a half-board deal) and very pleasant and efficient service - this was of paramount importance with young children, particularly a 23 month old. Young children are not noted for their patience! The wine list was superb and the sommelier was absolutely lovely.
The pool and spa facilities were beautiful and ideal for distracting an energetic 23 month old each evening before dinner.
The skiing was superb and conveniently located just “around the corner” within a five minute walk of the hotel. The ski & boot room was conveniently located in the basement.
We have never previously written a review such as this however we feel we should do so in appreciation to the Tsanteleina and its staff for looking after so well throughout our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the tsantelena. Our room was confortable and very clean with street view.We were already there 8 years ago when it was still 3 stars. The staff from reception could not have been more helpful. Our rate included half board and the food was excellent. We would highly recommend this hotel for its location, service and food.

This is a 3 star hotel (although I hear its moving up to a 4 star). It has just been refurbished with a lovely pool and spa area added. Gorgeous bar and right in the centre of town. Really good value - just as nicely furnished as some of the "posh" hotels in town but without the price tag.

I would recommend staying on a B&B basis as there are lots of great restaurants on the doorstep. Downsides - only one lift that gets busy at peak times and the rooms on the street can be a bit noisy at night if there are late night revellers. Rooms facing the mountain are nicer and quieter but more expensive.
