“Large portions”

Great location to reach. I choose a Nicoise salad which was great, all the portions were generous, the spaghetti bolognese looked good too.

“Haute cuisine en Haute montagne”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

If it happens that you are coming down Le Glacier from Le Fornet while skiing, and you feel like having something really nice for lunch, then this is your stop.
Le Signal, owned by friendly Brigitte, is one of those places where everything combines with nature: you are on the top of a mountain overlooking le Village de Val.
If there's sunshine you can't miss seating outside, the top terrace is just perfect. Otherwise you can always go inside beside the chimney.
French cuisine with a twist, I had a Croustillant de Thon with a korean sauce, beautifully presented, delicious and always with a smile from the friendly staff.
A comprehensive wine list with special attention to Rhône Valley and local Savoie.
If you are on a hurry, dont worry, you can always go to the Self-Service and enjoy the same amazing view and atmosphere.

“Gastronomy on the slopes...do not miss!”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

So, you're skiing in Le Fornet, Val d'Isère, it's 13.30 and you realize you're hungry...where do you go? Frankly, for me, only one option presented itself, Le Signal. Several reasons: 1- you have the option between self-service and sitting down service, 2- the view 3- the proximity to the cable car and finally, the quality of the service. It is of course much more advantageous to sit outside with beautify sunshine, but no worries for those needing heat, there is a chimney inside the restaurant, where I recommend you make a reservation...the owner, Brigitte, will always greet you with a smile. If you like lamb, do not miss the infamous "Souris d'Agneau", it is a family recipe!
Finally, as a wine enthusiast, the list is also appealing, especially for Rhone Valley wines.

Enjoy, savor and have fun!

This restaurant is accessible to pedestrians as well. You need to buy a ticket for the cable car, and barely need to walk on the snow.

“Unexpected and excellent”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

We skied down to this resturant in the Le Fornet area of Val D'Isere We chose the resturant more for its location at the top of the gondola lift which allowed us to meet a non-skier friend than for anything else. The building that houses the resturant is a pretty ordinary 1970's looking extension to the lift building. So, we weren't expecting what we got - which was a very friendly welcome, and and excellent meal.

The fish casserole was outstanding - with presentation to match. The meringue, ice cream and chocolate sauce - presented as mushrooms was also outstanding.

The staff an proprietor seemed genuinely passionate about their business. A memorably good meal.

“Great food ,great atmosphere.”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

We had two lunches here because it was so good. The first time it was very busy but the staff were very welcoming and efficient.Despite being a party of 8 we were squeezed in with no booking. The second time we did book and Madame welcomed us on arrival. The food was home-cooked ,authentic with a modern twist. For example the Confit duck with oriental spices and the Rabbit stew with morels and creamy polenta was delicious. The puddings are rich and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is vibrant and modern but the welcome traditional and always attentive. This is the best mountain restaurant in Val.
