We've just spent another fantastic Easter week skiing staying at the Christiania (with Scott Dunn). We had a great first experience last year and returned this year with our 5 month-old and two young children. The rooms are very comfortable and pleasant and the food absolutely excellent at breakfast and particularly dinner (even the kids' food, freshly made to order, no junk). What really distinguishes the hotel is the staff and the level of service. It is hard to single out anyone in particular - reception, concierge, bar, bellmen, kids' dinner club, housekeeping, the superb maitre d' and the waiting staff in the restaurant - all are excellent. Our young family was made very welcome and everything the staff could do to help or make life easier for us with our little ones, they did. Yet the hotel still retains a lovely traditional feel as well as being family-friendly. Thank you for a superb week. No doubt we will be back!

We visited this hotel through a Scott Dunn booking originally in march 2012 and on arrival at the hotel we were slightly underwhelmed. The room was a little on the small side and the hotel had a slightly traditional grown-up feel which we thought may not be too suitable for our family including a 2 and 3 year old. Over time though we were totally overwhelmed by the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, the superb level of service and the handy location next to the slopes. I can't really single out any one staff member as they were all so kind and helpful. We have travelled the world and stayed at some of the best hotels possible but for a family break in simply one of the best ski resorts anywhere, this hotel is hard to beat. Prices are not cheap but unlike many places there is a good sense of value for money. We came back in March 2013 and the experience was even better. I'm sure we will be returning next year also.

Unless you get a room on the right side of this hotel, ie on the ice rink/valley side you will have a terrible time. There is a very noisy bar underneath the hotel on the village side and one of the Val D'Isere's biggest night disco opposite which will make your sleep impossible. The thumping from underneath can be heard as high as third floor but you may be okay if you stay high and as far away from the Tea Time bar. We were right on top of it and had no chance to sleep until it closed down at 2 am.

Other then that it is a lovely place. Tentative staff. Excellent service. Close to lifts.

If you get too hot in your room you can ask the staff to turn off the underfloor heating in the rooms.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a room on the ice rink side.

Engaging and efficient staff at the front desks, restaurant less so, apart from the Maitre D', particularly at breakfast but the array and quality of food more than makes up for that.

The location of the hotel is terrific for the slopes and the charming village of Val d'Isere. Pool, sauna and steam room excellent.

Bedrooms and quality of cleaning is exceptional. Lounge bar is pretty dead at night- better to amble round to Le Blizzard before and after dinner for drinks- similar crazy prices though.

It's a five star hotel, and it is really worth it !
We took a plan with breakfast and dinner included, very nice breakfast , it's a very nice buffet , nothing is missing !
At night for dinner, it is an " Increeeedible " menu, there's foie gras and lobster just to mentioned these , and so much more in the buffet ( this is part of the appetisor only ), after you have the choice of two main dish, which changes every night, followed by a nice presentation of different cheese, and followed with the desert table, and what a choice !!!!!
The food at night is worth 5 star, with a maitre D and a sommelier, very nice wine sélection, and again the staff is excellent and attentive !!!!
The rooms are very comfortable and impeccable, the linens on the bed are a very nice quality, we had a king size bed which is rare in Europe, the hotel is located ski in ski out, very close to the lifts, the service at the hotel is more than excellent, the are very attentive to our needs, very polite and friendly !
There is a spa in the hotel, and an interior swimming pool !
Skiing is also very good, so if your budget permits you this hotel, do not hesitate one second there is also a play room for the children !
We are enjoying every minute of it, and we wish you the same !
