“Fantastic food and a great chalet!”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

Just back from seven days at La Couchire Val d'Isere and had such a great time thought we'd best write a review.
Never been looked after as well as YSE did while we were there, from the initial greeting to the amazing food prepared by Scott!
The chalet is in a great location opposite the cable car and bus stop, and was always warm and clean. The chalet girls were helpful and friendly.
We would recommend this chalet and look to return in the future.

This the second time we have been with YSE the first time some 4 years ago everything was near perfect the food the chalet and the service of the staff.
This year it was quite different. The chalet was rundown towels in the bathrooms old and tiered. The curtains my wife thought had not been cleaned ever. They were quite discussing. The furniture and the feel of the chalet we just tiered.
The yellow land rovers they use are very very old. The one that was assigned to us broke down twice The driver told us most of the other they us were just as old. They had just brought one new one but they still had to use the others.
The food was good but if we wanted extra fruit we would have to pay extra for it. So we brought our own in from the local supermarket. You had the feeling the chef was always looking to save money
We had the feeling that they needed to cut costs so we and I assume others suffered. The company does not have the same buzz it had when we first went
We would certainly not use YSE again there are so many better companies to use.
We went to an agency for next years booking and they old us they do not recomend YSE any more because they are not up to standard. That says a lot.

Fiona E, Manager at Chalet La Couchire, responded to this review, February 15, 2013
We have never been able to identify this client but we don't offer a Landrover service with La Couchire so have no idea regarding those comments. All of the Landrovers we do use with other chalets are fully serviced and operational. They may not be as slick as some of the vehicles seen in Val d'Isere but they are the best when it comes to driving on snowy roads (and the safest).
The chalet is not run-down. It is a beautiful chalet with lots of wood and character. We pride ourselves on our cleaning and all of our chalets are checked each day by one of our reps. To say "had not been cleaned ever" is just untrue.
We don't provide fruit that just sits in a bowl uneaten but if a client asks for fruit we will willingly provide it. No client has to go to a supermarket to buy fruit.
John and I still run the company we set up 21 years ago - nothing has changed regarding our commitment to give excellent holidays with fully trained and charming staff. No travel agency has stopped using YSE - we have stopped using several agents but not the other way round!

Just returned from a week skiing in Val d'Isere. There was a party of 16 booked through YSE Limited. Despite a 2 hour delay at Gatwick our trip was faultless. YSE kept us informed of any delays and changes to the schedule. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly YSE staff who arranged with 'Snowberry Ski Hire' to stay open later than usual to enable us to arrange equipment hire. Snowberry collected and returned us to our chalet. The catered chalet was ideal for a large party. Rooms were warm and comfortable all with en suite. The staff were great and the food was excellent. Every afternoon we returned to the chalet for home made cake and afternoon tea.
Chalet Couchire is situated in Le Fornet and is perfect for the lift up to Glacier de Pissaillas and the free bus that ran to the town every 6 minutes takes you to more lifts.
Some of us took lessons from Mountain Masters Ski School. Whilst a little more expensive it was worth the extra for the small group tuition.
At the end of the week we left our ski equipment in the boot room and it was collected by Snowberry.
As a first time skier I can recommend Val d'Isere and YSE Ltd as a great choice for a ski holiday.
