“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

We stayed February 2013, the snow was exceptional but irrespectively Le blizzard delivered in everyway. The location is perfect right in the heart of the town and although you cannot quite ski to the hotel it is only a very short walk to the lifts etc..... The spa and hot tub area are very well thought out and despite the hotel being full there it never felt overly busy. The staff were also lovely and very accommodating towards our young children. Food also excellent although the evening menu could be offer more selection. We will definitely be going back.

We stayed 5 days at Le Blizzard to enjoy snow before the end of the ski season. The staff was extremely polite, warm, and always ready to help (which should be the standard in a 5* but since it's not, it doesn't hurt to mention it).
Rooms are tastefully decorated, with large bathrooms and a balcony when upgrading. Whether facing the mountain or the street, it feels like a proper holidays. I'm not sure about the standard room, but would expect them to be on the smaller side.
The Hotel is situated right in the centre, so it's ideal for shopping or heading straight to the slopes. If you're going to a restaurant a bit further away, a private shuttle will graciously take you there, and back.
The hotel SPA is worth a visit, especially for the outside heated pool. Too bad it's only outside, but I guess you can't get it all... If you're not feeling brave enough, try teatime seating at at table in front of it or shelter inside in the lounge by the fireplace. The bar lounge also becomes a bit of a IT spot in the evening.
Also not to be missed: both restaurants.
Book upstairs is for semi-formal (it's a ski resort after all) dinning. Fares are creative while staying true to the traditional dish, with a mix of rich and subtle taste that makes it 1* worthy - which will never happened because the restaurant doesn't tick other required boxes (like a max number of seats, minimum number of staff and space between tables, etc.) As far as the food is concerned though, it totally deserves it! Also make sure you try deserts by pastry chef Hugo Sipp. The Apricot tart is to die for.
For a more Savoyard feel, head to the downstairs restaurant "La Luge". Raclette, fondue and other winter meals can be ordered, Chalet style.
At the end of your stay expect a hefty bill, especially in high season (5* are for the price, too). Absolutely worth every penny though. We'll definitely go back!

Well located in the center of the village and 80 meters from the slopes, this hotel is convenient. They have a car that can take you anywhere in the village or to the slopes for free, a nice spa with a heated outdoor pool (though not heated enough to my opinion) and an external hot tub (really hot) and an internal jacuzzi (with too much chlore maybe as your eyes sting a bit). You can pick rooms facing the slopes or facing the village and both are nice. The mini bar is for free, internet as well. Cosy lively lobby especially after ski. Great, rich breakfast. If I were to give some remarks :
- the ski room is not spacious enough and it smells bad,
- the rooms are not sound proof enough (the noises you hear are internal not external),
- the external hot tub gets full of tree leaves as people go bare foot before entering the tub and this makes the water dirty,
- the concierge/lobby could be better in their advice for restaurants as the one they recommended was among the worst in Val d'Isere (sur la montagne),
- the pillows are too soft and they don't have better ones
Overall a very nice and charming hotel with friendly staff and good service.

Room Tip: Room 204 can take 3 persons but has a rather small bathroom. Room 205 is for 2 with a large bathroom...

An absolutely fantastic hotel. Service is superb, friendly attentive but not overdone, just right. Cocktails are fabulous and served with delicious complimentary canapes. Location perfect, food amazing, sommelier knowledgeable and helpful. Very comfortable rooms, lovely views, just gorgeous. Very warmly welcomed and treated beautifully the whole time. Will be back as soon as have saved up enough euros. Expensive, but worth every cent.

A great location in Val d'Isere.

One of the best Hotels if not the best as far as quality offering – stylish wood finishing
throughout gives a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Good relaxation areas within the lounge & bar with several comfy sofas. Pleasant discreet staff.

We had a very comfortable & relaxing stay. The Mountain view room was what you would expect from a luxury Hotel – the only negative was no separate shower but a shower over the bath.

Spa is very good with a large Hot Tub & several relaxing areas. Outdoor pool and hot tub good idea but we were not brave enough to jump in!

There are a number of great restaurants in Val d'Isere. Would recommend the Restaurant under the Hotel – we had a great Fondue!

If you enjoy lively Après you must go to Folie Douce followed by FACE.

This Hotel comes at a price – with the pound so strong (not!) everything feels costly.

This was our third stay but the first since the refurbishment. The bar remains THE great feature but spa and rooms a close second. Great atmosphere, lots of comfy sofas. Prices are high but this is cal disere so not surprising.

Room was great. Huge comfy bed, lovely view of the mountain.

Spa is lovely with lots if relaxing areas. My wife loved her massage. Outdoor pool and hot tub fun additions in the snow. Huge indoor hot tub and swanky if sparsely equipped new gym. I'm guessing it's not well used anyway.

Tips... Dine at la lodge. Superb value
