Visiting L'Atelier Edmond is a like taking your tongue on a culinary cruise. It is wonderful. Set in an old-style chalet with traditional tools adorning the walls, the atmosphere is cosy without being cramped and decidedly unstuffy for a Michelin-starred establishment. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and there began our culinary adventure. We chose the 'Menu Degustation' - reasonably priced at 125 Euro - which consisted of 8 courses of deliciousness. The courses were beautifully presented and well paced. Two dishes deserve special mention - the first course was a marbled foie gras 'sandwich' which stopped conversation and left us mmm-ing and aaah-ing under our breath. The final dessert was also a feat of genius. A citrus and meringue concoction of unrivalled yumminess that once again left us speechless. There was a fish dish somewhere in the middle of the meal that was slightly disappointing, but that apart the meal was flawless. There is a good selection of local wines on the wine list and a lovely selection of appetisers and petit fours to start and finish off the meal. We will definitely be back and would recommend L'Atelier Edmond above all the other fine dining restaurants in Val d'Isere. A delight!
