Visiting L'Atelier Edmond is a like taking your tongue on a culinary cruise. It is wonderful. Set in an old-style chalet with traditional tools adorning the walls, the atmosphere is cosy without being cramped and decidedly unstuffy for a Michelin-starred establishment. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and there began our culinary adventure. We chose the 'Menu Degustation' - reasonably priced at 125 Euro - which consisted of 8 courses of deliciousness. The courses were beautifully presented and well paced. Two dishes deserve special mention - the first course was a marbled foie gras 'sandwich' which stopped conversation and left us mmm-ing and aaah-ing under our breath. The final dessert was also a feat of genius. A citrus and meringue concoction of unrivalled yumminess that once again left us speechless. There was a fish dish somewhere in the middle of the meal that was slightly disappointing, but that apart the meal was flawless. There is a good selection of local wines on the wine list and a lovely selection of appetisers and petit fours to start and finish off the meal. We will definitely be back and would recommend L'Atelier Edmond above all the other fine dining restaurants in Val d'Isere. A delight!

Had dinner here as a treat on holiday. It was fabulous. We were running late as we missed the free ski bus which takes you out to Le Fornet so we called and told them we'd be 15 minutes late and they were fine about it. It was snowing heavily and when we arrived the restaurant was so cosy with big log fires and the staff who greeted us were very welcoming. The food was sublime. There were about 6 or 7 appetisers before we even got our starters. We decided against the tasting menu as we only had a couple of hours babysitting and anyway the a la carte food looked superb. I had some lovely crayfish dish to start and divine lamb to follow. My citrus dessert was a taste sensation and the petit fours were beautiful. The staff were unobtrusive and friendly. My husband said it was better than Gordon Ramsays at Hospital Road but as he's only ever taken colleagues there I'll have to take his word for it!! If you are in Val D'Isere you have to try it.

We dropped in for lunch after a hard morning skiing and were blown away by the quality of the food here. This isn't isn't your average spaghetti bolognaise budget lunch but the 45 Euro, 3 course special is worth every penny, especially when paired with one of the wines off the very well chosen wine list.

It's the little extra's that make this THE foodie haven in Val d'Isere. The amuse bouche of salsify soup; the crisps of pumpkin seed and grilled cheese; the Savoyard cake with caramel; the very good breads... all unbilled, and perfectly complimenting the menu du jour of crayfish risotto followed by a very special confit du canard and tart tatin unlike any other I have ever eaten with a fabulous salted caramel and ginger ice cream accompaniment.

All in all, this was a fine dining experience with seamless service that we will be very happy to repeat as soon as the opportunity presents itself
