“The Best Ski Resort Hotel ever stayed in!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2013

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel that REALLY lives up to its 5 star status - then look no further the The Avenue Lodge. I have stayed at dozens of Ski resort hotels in France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland most if not all claiming to be 5 star, but the Avenue without question is the very best -

Contemporary, chic, cool, don't even think about staying at The Blizzard Hotel next door The Avenue is the Real Deal.

The bedrooms were fabulous, the bar exquisite, food excellent but more than anything the service and attitude of the staff outstanding. One evening for example i made 3 calls to reception in quick succession requesting - an ice pack for my wife twisted knee, a replacement remote control for the telly in the bathroom ( yes bathroom) and 2 hot chocolates. All delivered within 3 minutes of each call by a smiling charming member of staff - That's the way to do it !! - Thank you

Room Tip: They all look great

Popped in for drinks a few times and ate here once during our stay in Val. Fairly pricey, although that's normal for Val. Service absolutely amazing both in bar and restaurant. Lovely chilled out ambience, with cool music.

The hotel itsels is absolutely lovely, the location is perfect. But what is the most important is the atmosphere of the property, the attention of the hotel's staff to the guests. On the second day of your stay they all remember your name (or try to remember)
The hotel is maintained perfectly as well.
One of the best experiencies!!!

Many thanks

This is the cleanest, most serene, well designed mountain hotels I've ever stayed in. The decor is modern and slightly conceptual, however, I'm unable to say a bad thing. Fabulously comfortable beds, beautiful and new rooms. Excellent breakfast buffet, prompt room service, professional spa. Lovely pool and sauna all new and modern. Quiet clientele - all the atmosphere you'd like is across the street at the unground bar. Decent value for money - I'd pay up to 350 euros a night for this hotel.

Room Tip: Upspeck to a superior room. It's worth it.

Stayed at Hotel Avenue Lodge for 4 days for skiing in Val D'isere. The hotel is actually a small five-star boutique hotel, but it is well organized and convenient for skiing. The establishment has a modern and handy ski room, which opens directly on a road which leads you in five minutes to the ski slopes. As for the rooms, we had a deluxe room which was well appointed, was of a comfortable size and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel's spa and pool were also very welcome after a long day of ski. Finally, the small restaurant-bistro of the hotel was surprisingly very good, the ingredients used were fresh and the service was rapid.
Would definitely return again next time in Val D'isere.

We stayed at AL twice now - first time in Dec 2010 and again in Dec 2012. Fantastic hotel - beautifully done, very stylish, modern and welcoming. Every room has a different lay-out (we've seen quite a few of them) and size but they all have one thing in common - they're all perfect!
Try to book as well in advance as possible so you can choose the size or connecting rooms, if required. They tend to get really booked up in high season so bare that in mind if accommodation is important to you (as much as it is to us ;)).
All Staff at AL are just lovely - they address you by your name and are ever so polite and accommodating. Every request you have is dealt with immediately and always with a smile...
Their restaurant is fantastic! Truly delicious food, great service and lovely ambience.
Same goes for the bar - very pleasant atmosphere as well as efficient service. We fancied some oysters whilst relaxing in the bar one afternoon so we ordered a bottle of champs and asked if we could have them there. Apparently they don't serve food in the bar but made an exception for us, which was really lovely. Also, it was my birthday when we stayed so they gave me a card and invited for a drink at the bar - lovely touch! It's the little things that count and make your experiences whole - at AL they are very good at making you feel special.
The ski room staff also deserve a massive recognition - very helpful and enthusiastic with a great sense of humour (and they're all French! ;))
The pool area with jacuzzi and steam room is, even though very small - still cosy and relaxing. It gets uncomfortably busy around late afternoon... Best avoided then...
On top of everything the hotel is situated just a short walk from the slopes, which is very convenient for those who ski or snowboard.

To sum up - fantastic hotel and wonderful people who make it work.

Thank you all very much for being so good to us. Looking forward to seeing you again soon...

Overall, a superb experience. Stayed for a week during Easter 2012 in a 'chambre supérieure'. The hotel is conveniently located on the main street and 5 minutes walk from the lifts of Espace Killy. Note that the building they occupy does not offer a direct view on the mountains, and the design is very modern -- not a traditional Alp hotel.

The service was very amicable, helpful and considerate. Breakfast is included is included in the rate, and can be delivered in-room free of charge. Note that you do not have to use the pamphlet in the room to order which has a limited selection. If you call directly the reception they will deliver whatever is available in the buffet.

The room #407 met expectations. It had a balcony with a partial view on the mountains and the main street. Room well isolated from the street noise. The room was spacious, especially the bathroom. No minibar in the room though.

Cuisine: buffet breakfast was fresh and good selection. The dinner was delicious, and by Val d'Isère standards, good value for money.

Spa: Slightly disappointing. Very modern installations but relatively small. The hotel does attract a lot of families so there are a lot of kids --- you must face the music. They could extend the opening hours beyond 8pm so that adults can get some relaxing time. Although I didn't use the fitness centre, note that the installations essentially consist of a few elliptics -- barely enough to mention they have one!

Pro shop: didn't really use it as I had my equipment. That said, although it is not owned by the hotel, they are very approachable. They waxed and tuned my skis free of charge.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony with a partial view on the mountains.
