“Cosy 5-star in wonderful setting”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

We stayed spontaneously for one night only (the last room available) while traveling in the region and liked the place a lot. Some wooden country style buildings just outside town (use a shuttle or your own car, ample underground parking available), very nicely appointed rooms and baths (our room was small but that was ok) with all the amenities you would expect and a very well kept garden, ideal to spend a lazy afternoon reading.

We had no time to use the Spa, but it looked nice, although rather tiny.

We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace, which was excellent as well, not always the case in France where the locals start the day on Coffee and a croissant only.

The restaurant is small and gets a bit crowded during the evening, very friendly staff. The menu is not too extensive either. Although the food itself was very good, this is not full 5-star, but one can always find alternatives in town.

All in all a pleasant place and we think about pending a couple of days there skiing next time.

Room Tip: Try to get a deluxe if you spend more than a few nights and obviously, higher is better.

we were on our way to Italy, we decided to stay over, so lucky to find this JEWEL at the foot of Mont Blanc, it was an experience we shall never forget, the highlight of our trip! the rooms are luxurious, stylish and clinically clean, contemporary mixed with modern, the dinner and equally the breakfast, so tasty and FINE, the setting tranquill and the scenery BEAUTIFULL! well rested and sad to leave the next morning, we greeted the unbelievably friendly and hands on general manager, ensuring him that we will be back in winter for a longer stay, to experience wonderland!!

Our family spent one week at Hotel Alpaga in Megeve. We live near the mountains in the USA and have ready access to mountain resorts. It was my goal to use the visit to Megeve as an opportunity to see a variety of cities in the vicinity. Megeve is located in France while being very near Switzerland and Italy. We spent several days near Megeve and several days within a two hour drive of the hotel. One of our days was spent visiting nearby Chamonix. We took the two cable car rides up to the top of Mont Blanc (tallest mountain in Europe). If you have vertigo this is not the ride for you. But if you like stunning views of the Alps it cannot be beat. We also took a hot air baloon ride that originated near the hotel and floated down the valley over Megeve towards Chamonix. My 13 year old son went paragliding for the first time in his life and loved it. We also spent time in the very quaint town of Megeve. I would compare it to a smaller version of an Aspen, Colorado. The town center is beautiful and is full of boutiques, cafes and restaurants. For our excursions away from Megeve we spent a day visiting Geneva. We spent a day in the French town of Annecy which lies next to the beautiful lake of the same name. We spent another day traveling to Chateau de Chillon (an ancient castle near Vevey, Switzerland), followed by lunch in Montreux, then after a 40 minute drive to the town of Broc we participated in a candy making class at Maison de Callier. (Great Fun!) Finally, we spent the late afternoon and evening in Lausanne, Switzerland. Although we didn't make it to Italy during our stay the town of Aosta is just 30 minutes away and beyond the town are an ancient set of Roman ruins supposedly worth seeing. The staff at the hotel are all exceptionally helpful (Cecilia, Sebastian, Amelie and Guillaume) and all did an excellent job helping us fill in all of the details of our itinerary. Hotel Alpaga is a wonderful small hotel in a beautiful town high in the Alps. It's worth the effort to get there.

we stayed in Alpaga for our honeymoon in Jan 2011, a hotel car picked us up from the station after we arrived at night. we woke up the next day in our super stylish room into this amazing view with snow just right our patio, we had our breakfast looking at the snow falling and it was just magical, the only annoying thing was the cleaning service who kept knocking on our door every now and then and seemed not very pleased when we postponed it until we leave the room. Megeve itself is a beautiful village or town. and we enjoyed walking aback to our hotel which was not in the village centre but that was one of its advantages for us, the hotel concierge was very helpful and organized many of our activities, the hotel was immaculately clean, and have an excellent spa , we are still gushing about our facial treatment there. it was also nice to have an indoor swimming pool since it was winter outside. we had two meals in their restaurants but they were not so fantastic for us, all in all it is a beautiful boutique hotel but could do better with offering customers more for the value of the money they are paying.

An ideal combination of a peaceful environment (only sound in the morning is cow bells while they graze), beautiful views (mountains, valleys), very nice town of restaurants and shopping (Megeve) and countless day trip possibilities (Mont Blanc, Chamonix, Italy vineyards, just to start). Certainly one of the great vacation weeks I've spent.

This is a lovely property in a peaceful, quiet setting with great views of the mountains. Very relaxing and the location is wonderful. We took fabulous day trips to Chamonix and Annecy and spent nice cool evenings having dinner in Megeve. The town of Megeve has nice restaurants and bakeries. Highly recommended for hiking in Chamonix or sightseeing in Annecy and Megeve.

How to solve the problem of mixing old-fashioned beauty and modernity? Come here and see an impressive answer. Sleek-lined chalets in classic materials scattered around a kind of Japanese rock garden, unobtrusive lighting, surfaces easy on the eye everywhere. Unpretentious excellent restaurant, reasonably priced, outstanding breakfast, perfect service. Far enough from the noisy center of Megève to feel almost in the country. Very kind reaction to my having mistaken the date of my reservation. Only complaint: door to our room was sticking and needed repair.
