When one goes to eat in a mountain restaurant one expects average service, standard food and marvelous views. However, Restaurant L'Alpette proves this well-formed stereotype wrong.

The cosy little chalet. is located on top of a L'Alpette mountain, at the 1895 m altitude, that can be reached easily only by ski. It's always packed! One should reserve well in advance to get in there.

The views opening on Mont Blanc, Chaîne de Mont Joly and Aiguille Croche are marvelous!

The whole experience from getting to your table, to putting your skis back on is something exceptional.

The service is a bit slow, but taking into account the enormous amount of people being served here on sunny days in just two hours, it's very efficient and goes easy on you.

The food is fantastic! Starting from instant - classic tartar de bœuf to Poté savoyard it's of a very high level. The serving is simple, but elegant.
The sun gleaming in the sky, makes the experience even more enjoyable!

The only inconvenience is that there's only one way down: first off a narrow blue slope with a very
high concentration of high-speed skiers and then either a bumpy red slope, usually with a great amount of melted snow, or a lengthy green and shadowy green slope. Both of which are a little too much after a good Génepi or Chartreuse.

Maybe not the best food in Megeve, but certainly one of the best restaurant of the area: the view, the style ........ la classe!

The restaurant is just a 'place to be seen' , nothing more. Meals are simple and way to overpriced (38eur for veal with a cream sauce and very little vegetables..). Bringing the coffee took them 45min en the check another 30min.
Unacceptable

The restaurant is busy with two sittings for lunch. Definitely book if going at or close to a weekend. We came for the second sitting when it was not so busy. The food was fine, when it eventually arrived, but the drinks service was utterly hopeless. We four thirsty skiers couldn't even get bottles of water within 30 minutes of ordering, and even then it took three reminders. We wouldn't return for this reason alone, which is unfortunate as the location and atmosphere are both very good.

Delicious food, warm and welcoming service and a nice atmosphere. We tried Grand Ma's Chicken ( poulet fermier) and loved it.
