When one goes to eat in a mountain restaurant one expects average service, standard food and marvelous views. However, Restaurant L'Alpette proves this well-formed stereotype wrong.
The cosy little chalet. is located on top of a L'Alpette mountain, at the 1895 m altitude, that can be reached easily only by ski. It's always packed! One should reserve well in advance to get in there.
The views opening on Mont Blanc, Chaîne de Mont Joly and Aiguille Croche are marvelous!
The whole experience from getting to your table, to putting your skis back on is something exceptional.
The service is a bit slow, but taking into account the enormous amount of people being served here on sunny days in just two hours, it's very efficient and goes easy on you.
The food is fantastic! Starting from instant - classic tartar de bœuf to Poté savoyard it's of a very high level. The serving is simple, but elegant.
The sun gleaming in the sky, makes the experience even more enjoyable!
The only inconvenience is that there's only one way down: first off a narrow blue slope with a very
high concentration of high-speed skiers and then either a bumpy red slope, usually with a great amount of melted snow, or a lengthy green and shadowy green slope. Both of which are a little too much after a good Génepi or Chartreuse.
