We (young family of 5) have just returned from our much anticipated annual family skiing holiday. We booked an appartment in 'Fleurs des Alpes' through Peak Retreats. Firstly, I would like to say that Les Gets itself is a likable, bustling town which offers excellent skiing for all abilities. Once we got to the slopes, we had a great time, kids in ESF ski lessons and then skiing as a family - excellent!
The problems were getting to and from the ski lifts and the quality of the appartment itself. The appartment has to be at least 1 mile (feels a lot further in ski boots!) from the main ski station (up a steep hill) and relies on a ski bus which can be extremely erratic and always packed, expecially on the way back home at the end of the day. By the time you get home you're far too exhausted to contemplate going back into Les Gets to enjoy the numerous bars and restaurant (especially with kids tired from a day's skiing). The appartment itself (called Lys Martagon) was dated (despite apparently having been completely refurbished in 2005!!) and gloomy - no light to the 2nd bedroom/bathrooms. The standard of fixtures/finishings was very poor quality and we had a very uncomfortable stay here - and paid £1600 for the pleasure! There were also many mistakes made with our booking. We complained to Peak Retreats and their response was dismissive and patronising, they didn't seem to care that we wouldn't be booking through them again. My advice to anybody considering this as a family skiing holiday - don't bother. It's poor quality, unsuitable for a family and the after sales service is shocking.
