Wow, what a beautiful hotel, we had a truly wonderful experience during our short two day stay at Villa Florentine!

Fantastic room, wonderful views of the city and great staff!

Also great exercise walking up and down the steps to the city, all in all a truly great place to stay!

Room tip: City view would be fantastic

The staff was so attentive and the view from our room was stunning. Breakfast was so fresh and the view from the terrace over the old city was charming. The Concierge was super helpful in getting our dinner reservations in great restaurants.

Hotel is in a beautiful location with great views over the city.
Rooms are small but comfortable. Bed and pillows are very good. Air conditioning is good for France.
Staff are attentive and pleasant.
Breakfasts are good with a wide range of foods offered.
Only gripe I have is that Relais and Chateau make a big deal of giving you a complimentary glass of champagne upon arrival if you have 5c membership plus room upgrade and tour of the Musee des Canuts and the Croix rouse hill. None of this happened, don't promote it if you are not going to deliver!

The hotel is historically interesting, beautiful and offers a wonderful view of Lyon.We had a very happy stay there en route to Cannes. It has comfortable rooms and beds but the restaurant service was v slow. Staff were excellent but dinner took three hours!

If excellence is what you crave, or rely on for sanity, and you need to be or want to be in Lyon, then rest assured you will be happy at Villa Florentine. That should say it all but since you are asking why, lets share a few details. I prefer the location which is above old Lyon on the road to the cathedral. If you enjoy a good walk and are accustomed to walking up and down, as we are in Colorado then you will find the perch on which the villa is built comforting. There is an ethereal and above the maddening crowd sense to the location. The staff is the best, excellent in communicating and serving and caring; you get the feeling they are indeed happy you are visiting with them. The layout and level of finish on the interior feels right and is in a classic old world decor. Dining is perfect. Wait staff look, listen, hustle with charm. While the pool is small it is also ideal for a cooling dip and poolside drink. It is a pleasant place to sleep. Overall an relatively ideal luxury hotel in Lyon.
