We arrived early and they said our room was ready which was good. The rooms aren't that big but clean and functional. The location is the best thing here. Quite close to Old Lyon.

And yeas its true! The swimming pool is in the middle of the dining room. But we used it. No-one is in the dining room in the middle of the afternoon. Also the swimming pool is much bigger than it initially looks. There are really 3 connected pools

We spent 1 night here after departing our UniWorld cruise. The location is very central to both the old city & the peninsula - an easy walk. Charming sidewalk cafes & shops are just minutes away. The staff was very pleasant & accomodating. The hotel is in a very old building with a great history! The breakfast buffet was very nice & included both American & European items. The coffee was the best I had in the 10 days we spent in France - very full-bodied & rich & not from a push button machine. We stayed in Room 206. The room was smallish but comfortable, the shower very nice. At first glance the bed did not look very inviting, but it was extremely comfortable to sleep in. The hotel has free wi-fi, and we were able to borrow a voltage converter for our ipads. There is a nice little bar in the hotel lobby with comfortable chairs for reading. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Lyon.

Room Tip: The only downside - there was no one to help with the luggage. The lift took us to the second floor...

My only regret about booking this hotel is that we didn't stay longer. It was a really comfortable and enjoyable stay. We had booked a superior room and were very happy with the room size and facilities. The bedroom was spacious (enormous by Paris standards) and beautifully furnished and decorated. The ensuite bathroom was also large and well equipped, including a full bath.

The bed was large and comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, there was a basket of toiletries and other items provided and there was plenty of hanging and drawer space. The only thing lacking was a fridge, but that wasn't a big deal for such a short stay. The free wifi worked well and we had no connection drop-outs at all.

The reception staff were helpful and most spoke very good English, and they quickly arranged for us to access our room even though we arrived an hour before their specified check in time. They were also able to assist with a map of the town and recommendations/directions for places to eat.

We spent a very restful night in room 204, which overlooked the narrow one-way street at the front of the hotel.

Breakfast was available downstairs, but as it wasn't included in our package, we opted to buy pastries from the boulangerie across the street instead.

Tip: The single lift is very small, and there can sometimes be a bit of a wait for it. If you're able-bodied, ask for a room on he lower floors so you can use the stairs except when transporting luggage.

This is a stylishly decorated, very nice hotel in Lyon's Presqu'Ile section. We were given a spacious room on an upper floor, and when the AC didn't function well, they immediately offered us a different, smaller room on a lower floor.Which is to say that the personnel were very responsive and helpful. Location is great for seeing many of the sights in central Lyon. Breakfast is truly lavish, with a huge choice of foods. There's also a heated indoor pool, oddly contiguous with the breakfast room. Many nice touches all around (huge bouquet of flowers in lobby, bathrobes in bathrooms, etc.) and everything spotless.

We've stayed here twice now. Comfortable hotel and located within walking distance to all the main sites in lyon.

The rooms are comfortable, ours was a little small but had everything we needed.

We'd stay again when back in Lyon.

We could not be more pleased with this fabulous hotel. From the moment that we arrived, the courtesy shown by the staff was the best. The cleanliness was everywhere with great sent even in the hallways. The room was a perfect size and a lovely bathroom. The lobby bar/cafe was charming. The hotel is very attractive. Although it is situated on a oneway single lane street, there is a great underground garage just a block and a half away. The location of the hotel could not have been better given that it is in the heart of Lyon's old city. Shopping is outstanding in this area and there are just about every kind of restaurant nearby.

In the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, LE GRAND HOTEL DES TERREAUX is one of Lyon’s oldest hotels. It combines the atmosphere of an old-fashioned 19th century town house with a daringly modern, innovative design. Every detail shows the personality of this place which is brought to life by the passion of its staff and the soul of its Guests. This lovely hotel enjoys a prime location on the peninsula, not far from the Lyon Opera House and the Théatre des Célestins, just on the edge of the historic centre of Lyon with its many bistro-style restaurants (known locally as ‘bouchons’), and a stone’s throw from the Place des Terreaux and the Musée des Beaux-Arts. As you will see from our guest book, we have had the privilege of welcoming a number of very famous guests. ... more   less
