Warwick Reine Astrid - Lyon

We were only in this hotel for a night while we were making our way through France. The hotel was a bit hard to find for us. Our Sat-Nav had us going in circles. The underground garage was a bit difficult to go into, being very cramped. The rooms were comfortable and were adequate for what we needed. Check in was quick and efficient. We didn't eat here as we went out in Lyon to explore restaurants and some sites. Absolutely lovely city.

The size of the lounge, dining area and room of our family suite make our stay worthwhile despite its distance from the Lyon city centre. It is however, conveniently serviced by a bus which runs every 15 mins or so and is within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. One receptionist was able to recommend a nice restaurant within walking distance on a cold, wet, wintry Sunday night when we first arrived. Another helped us make enquiries and book a restaurant for us in French, which we do not speak. On the flip side, the hotel is aging a little with some facilities needing upgrading - our microwave oven did not work (although they replaced this instantly), the toilet paper holder fell off the wall and a couple of dining room chairs were rickety. The worst thing is that we had to pay for internet service - most French hotels these days provide complimentary wifi. On balance, given the pluses and the favourable pricing, we would still recommend this hotel to our friends.

Very nice hotel near the park, friendly staff, clean rooms. We ate at the hotel's restaurant and it was very good. The only thing that bothered us is that the WiFi internet is not free for guests, it costs 14,50€ a day, which we think is definetly too much!

Nice comfortable hotel with very large rooms, I had one of the suites, although rooms are a little dated. Staff are very friendly. Showers are not great as they take ages to heat up and the water pressure is low.

Had an apartment for 3 of us during the Fetes des lumieres. This was ideal for us. Well equipped and comfortable. Good service at reception. Make your own breakfast as the prices for any food or drink at the hotel are very high as they are for wi-fi. The apartment is ideal for storing and preparing food, with well equipped kitchen, fridge, microwave, cooker, kettle, grill, dishwasher and good basic equipment. You will need your own dishcloths, washing up liquid etc. We also took a tea towel. Just take a few things as you would if renting a cottage or apartment. About 200 yards away there is a very convenient supermarket with all you need for a short stay. We bought enough food and drink for 3 days, including baguettes to make our own lunch, here for less than half the price of breakfast for 3 people for just one day in the hotel!! It is a great location by the Park which is beautiful and enormous. Easy to get buses or metro into town, you can also hire bikes (like Boris bikes in London) just over the road. All in all we had a great time in a very well equipped clean and comfortable apartment with helpful staff. If money is no object then eating at the hotel and using its wi-fi will probably be a breeze, but with so many great restaurants in town, and a good supermarket around the corner we would recommend eating out and preparing your own food inside and enjoy the city and the park. We hope to return sometime as Lyon is a beautiful city and this is a great place to stay if you are looking for an apartment in a hotel.

Thanks to all reception desk staff who were always courteous and helpful.

Room Tip: Book early for the fetes des lumieres and do your homework!

Dear “Jonathan C”

I would like to thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor. I’m pleased to read that you have appreciated your stay during the last“ Fête des Lumières”, specially the size and the layout of the suite, the location and also the access by bus or by bike. In my opinion this nice 4-star hotel is meant mostly for those who travel by car (or at least for those who dare to get through its underground parking entrance, which is quite tricky). It is located in a nice and quiet district far from the old town and there is no underground station in the vicinity (though, a bus station is close by). The apartments were very nice and spacious, but the hotel's policy is rather strange: it was not mentioned on the hotel's internet site, but they wanted a deposit of 430€ on arrival a deposit of 430€ on arrival (our apartment's price was 235€ for two nights staying). Our friend had a security deposit hold on her card even twice: just after the booking via the site and once more on her arrival. The staff was absolutely polite, but nonetheless we have got an impression that they didn't consider us as trustworthy persons.

The place is very nice, close to the beautiful "Tete d'or" park, not far away from hi-speed train statiion, comfortable, quiet, a lot of space in rooms with a top-class service
Plus the value is very good : for the same price, you may have an "average" hotel with absolutly no comparison

Room Tip: View on the park
