“Great little museum!”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

Really glad I made the effort to see this, I'm quite interested in Cinema anyway so it seemed like a good choice. Lots of history and examples of the lumiere brothers' first chronophotography devices, as well as a selection of the first films they showed. And history on the family themselves.

I found it all interesting, the house is beautiful and kept up well with original features and chandeliers. I liked that they have the museum in the house the Lumieres lived in, gives you a real sense of the making of history there.

It was also only 6 euros when we went which was a bargain, it is fairly small and you could get round in about 90 mins. Get an audio guide if you don't speak French.

“A must-see for movie lovers”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

It is located very close to Metro station Lumiere of Lyon. The house itself is worth for visit due to its classical design. For movie lovers, there are many movie pictures and antique movie players in permanent exhibition to demonstrate the production of Lumiere brothers. Staff are helpful and nice. It would be perfect if more details could be given in English on exhibition boards rather than providing in audioguide only.

“good if you are interested in movie history”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

The Lumiere museum was close to my hotel so it was easy to visit. Appreciated the "guidevoice" in english. It seemed fairly good but I´m not actually that interested in the history of photographs and films. I think it is worth visiting though if you have any interest in the theme. The staff seemed very polite and helpful as well.

“Fascinating small museum”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

Just out from the centre of Lyon and housed in the mansion built by the Lumiere brothers. The house is interesting as a building, but the museum is also of interest. We particularly enjoyed the clips of various films made by the brothers showing on small screens amongst the exhibits.

“Must to visit for all cinema lovers!”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

The place cinema was born! To be specific where brothers who invented cinema were born. Take a metro from centre de Lyon to see beautiful house of Lumiere Bros and then take a journey through history of cinema. It start with old times when people enjoyed theatre of shadows - ends with motion picture and a real professional camera.
