“Home away from home”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

When we finally found the street Rene Leynaud, Karine was the best persone to welcome us, after more then a hour driving in Lyon (and 6 hours on the roads..). with all her kindness and her pasion, we forgot our hard day and we gut a beautiful room in a very welcoming worm house. The location is perfect and after we understood it is imposible to be with a car in Lyon, we were so happy that we choose a B&B in the center of the city. But I think it is not the perfect location, or the beautiful room with the comfortable bed and the worm calm atmosphere - it is all about Karine!

She prepared us a spacial breakfast every morning and bought for me spacial things, everytime we needed some information she was happy to help with patience and care. She made us feel like we at home when we were so far from home. She gave us the feeling it is ok to ask every time we needed anything and made us understand that she is the write person to ask - I wish every place - b&b or hotel will give so much information with caring and above all full hospitality.

Highly recommended!

Karine is a sweet hostess and her home is gorgeous, if not a bit smaller than you might expect for a bed & breakfast. Do pay attention to all the directions you receive from her as the property is set back from the street and you need a code to get into the courtyard to pass through to her home. Nos Chambres are three rooms basically within Karine's family's home. If you're looking for a ton of privacy you will get it, but it will feel a little like you're guests in someone's home rather than in an inn. That was FINE with us. The room- mostly stone walls- was quiet and had a great (and free!) internet connection. The bathroom had a wonderful shower and big sink. Breakfast was lovely and a little different everyday, though still bread-and-homemade conserves everyday. The first morning Karine served us a local brioche with praline that is specific to Lyon. That helped us get acclimated to Lyonnaise cuisine and how it really is special. We would stay here again for sure.

My wife and I had a wonderful time we had at your quaint B&B (a converted 18th century silk factory). The interior was amazing (see the pics of the property)!
Karine, the owner was very hospitable and friendly. The room was tastefully furnished and the feeling in the house tranquil and calm. The breakfast we received was magnifique! We still talk about the tasty homemade jams (strawberry and mint, apricot and lavender...), fresh warm brioche and selection of breads. I think we should start serving coffee in a bowl in our house, here in Finland. A nice tradition! We will highly recommend your super B&B to our friends and of course we hope to see you again in the future. We plan to spend a longer time in Lyon next time as we liked it very much.Best wishes, Alan and Heidi.

Thank you so much Alan and Heidi, I hope to see you again in Lyon.
At the present time, "bowls" are a real topic of discussion in my house.
See you

The woman who runs this place is amazing. Extremely friendly and hospitable. She also makes the best jam I have ever tasted: Apricots with lavender; strawberry with fresh mint; etc. We would have bought some to take away with us if we had been able to take it on the plane. Our room also had a MASSIVE bathtub, that could easily fit two. As it rained a bit on our visit, it was nice to be able to come back and just soak in hot water and bubbles for an hour to warm up!

The location is also excellent, as it is in the nicest quarter of Lyon.

Room Tip: Ask for the one with the massive bath tub!

I stay in this "chambre d'hotes" every time I spend a few days in Lyon for business trips. The place is amazing: nothing special from the outside, a beautiful house of stone and wood from the inside. No TV in the room, a very quiet atmosphere, the place is made for resting. I sleep surprinsingly weel every time I stay at Nos chambres en ville. Very nice welcome and breakfast. Another interesting point: hotels are expensive in the heart of Lyon, this place enables me to book an accomodation that fits the budget my firm gives me. This is quite rare for Lyon...

As a result, the 3 rooms of this place are often fully booked when you call...

Comfortable, chic good-value bed and breakfast in the heart of Lyon with good, simple breakfast. Unfortunately, not a good choice for visitors who require a place to leave their luggage. On our last morning, a Sunday, we were suprised to learn that as a matter of policy, we would not be able to leave our luggage and retrieve it later in the afternoon. Exceptions can apparently sometimes be made in advance if/if convenient for the owner, but not/not on Sundays. This is allegedly spelled out somewhere on the website, although we were unable to find it. In the end, the proprietor told us that we should go to one of the two train stations and leave our bags there. Neither is close. We ultimately tried to leave our luggage at the closer one (Gare Perrache), but as their left luggage stand is closed on Sundays we were forced to drag our bags around the city all day.

My wife and I spent a lovely midweek at Nos Chambres En Ville. Set in a courtyard off the main street in the heart of the 'boho' area of Lyon, there are many charming independent shops and fine eateries only minutes away. The location is also only around fifteen minutes walk from Vieux Lyon and, as we discovered on our second to last day, only a couple of streets away from the remains of a Roman coliseum! Nos Chambres En Ville itself is beautifully decorated and has a real 'cool' factor about it. We were in 'Bedroom 2' and, whilst the fact that the bathroom has a curtain as opposed to a door took a little getting used to, the room itself was absolutely gorgeous with plenty of space and a beautiful roll top bath to relax in.

We speak very little French and Karine, the owner, was more than happy to converse to us in English (although we did ask that she spoke to us in French and we'd let her know if we needed and English translation). Breakfast consisted of several breads and jams which, I understand were all home-made by Karine herself.

We thoroughly recommend Nos Chambres En Ville for anybody planning a visit to the wonderful city of Lyon.
