Short one night stay, arriving late, leaving early. Well situated in the centre of Lyon. Little chance to view and use all facilities but liked what I saw. Staff very helpful on phone and friendly welcome on arrival . Room excellent- very comfortabley furnished and good bathroom. Bathrobes slippers etc provided. Free water and soft drinks in mini bar a nice touch. Complementary Wi Fi. Only slight downside, no kettle or tea making facilities and some extras seemed expensive. Did not use restaurant, even for breakfast, but food served at a reception/ meeting I attended at the hotel was excellent so promises well.
I would like to stay here again, probably for a weekend stay next time.

Stayed here for a weekend in the autumn. Location was really good for the old town and the breakfast room and food was great.
Staff helpful and friendly and accommodation was good - not the biggest room but comfortable bed!

As you would expectnfrom the Sofitel, the hotel is of a high standard. Rooms are spaceous and service is great from the front desk staff. Some disappointments include the very small and slow lifts (more than 4 people with luggage is an issue). Breakfast cost is extremely expensive at 26 euros for buffet. On the positive side the contents of the mini bar are free, although no alcohol is placed inside and wi fi is complimentary for basic connection. Although, quite expensive the hotel remains a good choice.

Hotel is situated in a good position. Rooms with renovated bathrooms are excellent. Beds very comfortable. One of the reception staff could do with some training as she was rude , this was then dealt with by the guest service manager. The foyer and lifts smell of strong cologne ,very overwhelming and not pleasant if you are an asthma sufferer. Overall a good hotel.

very good location, in front of the river, and near the place "Bellecour"

building is rather nothing special from outside

1* restaurant is very good overlooking the river

service is excellent; the bed is excellent

the lobby is nicely decorated

however the bedroom is really too old... and it needs clearly a renovation. the TV is correct. Wifi is ok as long as you re-connect each time...

we got a room at the angle, on the back, with no particular view. our bathroom had no windows, and was rather a 2* or 3* bathroom (our shower did not work well; the toilet is so small that you can not seat properly... the bathroom is wrongly designed). in the room, no tea or coffe kettle...

decoration of the corridors and the room is special (green mustard carpet, with red line...)

in the basement, the fitness looks rather excellent, but when you use it (2 equipments were not working properly), and there was no headset available for hotel guests for use on the TV-connected machines...

there is an hamman (very nice); but no sauna, no jacuzzi/swimming pool

it should be a 3.5 or 4 out of 5, but due to excellent services, it got our 4/5

My wife and I had a great experience at the Sofitel.

First off, it's a very convenient location, an easy walk to the old town and everything you're going to do as a tourist in Lyon. There is a taxi stand right in front as well, in case you need one.

The superior room with a view of the river was a great option. Bigger than expected (by European standards), you have plenty of space for your large suitcases. The bed was basically a king, and was very comfy. All amenities are top-notch.

Probably the best aspect of the hotel is the penthouse bar and breakfast room with commanding views of the Rhone river and of the entirety of Lyon. Gorgeous. And the breakfast buffet is awesome, with more options than you can possibly eat. As an added bonus, the hotel also has a surprisingly large and well-outfitted fitness center.

The concierge helped us find a restaurant, was very friendly and helpful, and spoke good English.

All-in-all, this is a great hotel and comes highly recommended from this regular traveler.

Having stayed at several Sofitel properties around the world, it was a no brainer to choose this one in Lyon.

It's got a great location, right behind the city's main square, Bellecour. Everything was walking distance from this hotel.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, staff were gracious and extremely friendly+polite.

Rooms are a bit on the small side, but no matter, as they are well laid out and beautifully decorated.

Lyon is a lovely city, and isn't overrun with tourists all year round. You can enjoy beautiful museums, walking through the lovely historic quarter, and eat extremely well (la Mere Brazier, Fev 14, Paul Bocuse, Les Halles etc) - all without the throngs.

Would recommend the Sofitel Lyon, and would definitely return!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with river view - magnifique!
