Loved the shop of the museum, but since I really don't know a lot about textile I really hoped to learn stuff at this museum... that doens't seem to be the starting point in the philosophy of this museum. It is a big building, the collection has a lot space in which it is exposed, but in a really artsy way. Luckily enough they had an audioguide in English and they have documentation per room, but still it couln't tickle my imagination. Especially for kids I can imagine this museum to a bit boring.
Yes I have seen many beautiful examples of silk, cloth, textile, fabric... but I really still don't know what the significance was for Lyon and the labourers of the city (something to do with Napoleon ordering everybody to wear silk from Lyon, but how would he manage that?).
Left the museum feeling we 'had done something really 'cultural', bohemian but also elite'or something like that... We had the Lyon city card, so it was fine, but I think I wouldn't feel okay with it if we would have payed full admission... it really is quite expensive!
