Having heard so much about the French Resistance during WWII, we were really interested to learn more at this Museum. It was a disappointment. The personnel are very helpful and attentive, one gentleman even going so far as to find us before the start of a 45" video because he knew we would not understand the French broadcast. Very kind. Every display is in French only. Non-French speakers are provided an iPad-like device with narratives that correspond to the overhead photographs indicating the start of a section of an exhibit. The exhibits are all photos and text - other than a typical French kitchen and street scene circa 1942 - it was neither moving nor informative. The 45" video consists of excerpts from the trial of Klaus Barbie in 1987 here in Lyon. For us it was, sadly, not worth the visit or price of admission.

The Resistance museum
Is located in the former Gestapo headquarters in Lyon. Entry was €7. The museum is on two levels with an area which has been a mock up of Lyon during the Nazi occupation.
The displays are in French only however a well detailed booklet is provided for English speakers and which is comprehensive.
The museum lacks original artifacts however does give an interesting overview of life in occupied France and especially Lyon and the great steps the resistance and enemies of the Reich made in their sacrifice.
All in all a good museum for an hour or so.
The shop is poor.

There was far too much reading and not enough films, photos or memorabilia to depict the text. There are better museums demonstrating the subject matter than this

As a museum, there's too much text on the walls. As an evocation of the city's survival (and some citizens' survival) through WW2, it's heart-breaking. Lots of extremely moving video material, and some important historical documentary. Skip the conducted tours, and take it at your own pace.
Public transport access is easy.

They must have updated their English translations since Corinne O and Geoviki went. My friend and I read the reviews online saying it wasn't very Anglophone friendly, but opted to check it out anyway even though neither of us speak much French. We went yesterday (Feb. 13, 2013), and when we arrived they provided us with a Visitors Guide booklet in English, which translated all the French text on the walls of the exhibits, and the majority of the audio exhibits appeared to have been translated into English as well (though we didn't listen to all of them). I didn't ask about an English audio guide, but the booklet provided a ton of information.
We were in a bit of a rush that day, but I will definitely be going back to finish where we left off. It was very interesting and informative, especially if you're interested in history.
