My wife and I stayed at Lisa’s apartment in Villeurbanne for several weeks in September and October. We recommend it very highly for any visit to Lyon or Villeurbanne. It is in a quiet neighborhood with many trees and close to the universities of DOUA. It is close to the Parc de la Tete d’Or (just an 8 minute walk) and near a Lyon Tram stop (T1 & T4), that gives you easy access to Part Dieu, the Presqu’ile, the Confluence, and Vieux Lyon.
The apartment is very quiet, comfortable and full of light. It is well equipped with key modern amenities – including a strong wifi network, large screen TV, and multi-speaker audio. It has two large comfortable bedrooms plus a LR murphy bed for extra sleepers, and many closets and cupboards. The kitchen is also well equipped and makes it easy to eat meals in.
Lisa was a great host, providing helpful information and answering all our questions quickly via email or WhatsApp. We recommend this apartment and Lisa's hospitality very highly for any visits to the Lyon area.
We stayed 4 months in this rental, April-July 2017, as one of us was on a university sabbatical at both ENS Lyon & Claude Bernard (Lyon1). Start with the kitchen - extremely well equipped with induction range, good oven, adequate refrigerator, dishwasher, and everything for dining and cooking - and a great Delonghi bean-to-cup coffee maker! The dining/living area is quite spacious with modern furniture - a beautiful dining table, large bi-sectional couch and a huge flat screen TV with Freebox TV - even a few English stations (BBC, Skynews, CNN, Bloomberg, CNBC). At the time there was a landline phone that allowed free calling to the US and most places in Europe. The Master bedroom has a Queen-size bed, very comfortable and lots of shelves and rods for hanging clothes inside of closets. The second bedroom has a double bed and lots of space. The toilet is separate from the bathroom which has a great shower and lots of empty cabinet space and drawers for storing things. The washer and dryer are also behind sliding doors in the bathroom. Finally, there is a very nice south-facing balcony, large enough for several chairs and a table - nice for relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening. In summary, we couldn't have asked for more for the 4-month stay.
The location on the 3rd floor (with elevator) of an apartment building is very close to the Condorcet T1 tram line (less 50 m) which takes you to the large shopping mall at Part-Dieu in about 10 minutes, as well as changing stations for the Metro. One of the main draws for us was free off-street parking inside the gated parking lot. Within easy walking distance is a small shopping area (grocery store, bank, boulangerie, boucherie), an open-air wonderful farmer's market on Wed, Fri & Sunday and the large beautiful Parc de la Tete d'Or where we spent hours strolling and eating in the several outdoor cafes.
We had a wonderful 4 months staying in this apartment and feel very lucky to have found it - it was perfect!
