“Very good and delicate French cuisine in nice environement”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

On a business trip to Grenoble, a colleague advised me to go there for nice moment and good food experience. Better if you book in advance for a table especially on mondays when most of other surrounding restaurants are closed. I had the foie-gras menu. 5 different dishes on the foie-gras theme. Even the desert was related to foie gras with a very original ball of foie-gras ice-cream. Really delicate and tasty, without the feeling of eating too much. Perfect timing in dishes delivery. May be considered as expensive menu (79€) but it was worth it. My colleague had the meat menu for 49€ and was as well satisfied. Advice on related red wine was excellent (A good Bordeaux-Medoc Moulis for 35€ the bottle). Service was good without being too "pompus" so that I was feeling really at ease. The small dinning room is finely decorated. Not the everyday dinning place but perfect for "out of ordinary" events.

“Every time in Grenoble!”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

I have eaten at Napoleon every time I have visited Grenoble, so that is twice in ten years. Both were good experiences. Tonight, a Monday, the room was full, always a good sign. And at least half were locals.

I had the Meat Menu, and it was all good. On reflection, every dish was a "meat" colour (brown beige) apart from beetroot . So maybe some thought to brighten the presentation.

Certainly a traditional place, but France does that so well. Sensible prices for the quality.

I am here for seven days of holiday, so we shall see what else Grenoble has to offer

So far, Napoleon stands proud.

“Nice night out”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

I took my wife here for her birthday. It's a beautiful dining room. About 14 tables. I had the poisson menu, she had the meat menu. Both were very good. All of the courses were solid. My wife's pear dessert was probably the highlight. Service was ery good. Nicer yet more affordable than a French restaurant in North America. With 2 kir royale, a bottle of wine and 2 menus, totalled 120 Euros. Worth it for a nice night out.

“Fine dining with a dash of history”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Auberge Napoleon. The decor is quite unique, with Napoleonic era trappings and many tasteful touches. The overall atmosphere is chic, warm and welcoming. Thankfully, they don`t impose a dress code, so if you show up in jeans and a nice shirt you`re fine. A T-shirt would probably be pushing it. The service is both refined and relaxed. The food was excellent. The combination of flavours is innovative. It`s nice also that the chef is a woman, so all the more deserving of your business in this male-dominated sector. The restaurant features in `Les Misérables` under its original name Les Trois Dauphins, where Napoleon stopped on his march from initial exile to Waterloo and (briefly) retook control of the French government. Bon appétit!
