“Nice view from the city but nothing exceptional”

A good view of the surrounding Alps mountains, if the weather is clear you can see Mt Blanc.A cafe and a restaurant to enjoy the scenery.

“A must visit place in Grenoble”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

This is one place that everyone visiting Grenoble must pay a visit.
The view of the city, with the river flowing across, from the top is truly breathtaking. Although everytime I went via the ropeway or the ballons as the local call, but the trek to the top is also worth doing.

“A fantastic place”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

La Bastille is perfect for tourists and locals alike. You can either choose to take the various paths and walk up to the top or take the cable cars directly to the main attraction. Having done both, I'd say the walk is definitely worth the effort as the views and the hidden gems you come across make it a special visit. You can choose to take the cable car up one way and walk down if the climb sounds too daunting! There is also wheelchair access available on the cable cars and around the entire of La Bastille.

The summit of la Bastille boasts breath-taking views, and is a perfect spot for lunching (with a cafe and restaurant available). There are also various plaques around with information on the mountain ranges you see surrounding Grenoble.

For the more adventurous, there are various zip wire activities available for children and adults alike. For the more studious, there is a museum telling the history of the "Diables Bleus" mountain troops. The museum has head sets that tell you the story as you walk through the museum (available in various languages) which prove to make the story come alive.

Before you leave - don't miss out on the caves! There are passage through the mountain which the troops built in the past the get behind enemy lines in battle. These caves are an excellent find, and take you through to even more grassy picnic areas and yet another restaurant.

All in all, a brilliant day out, whether you want a relaxed one or a more adventurous.

“Amazing views and food to match”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

I went here with a conference banquet. The food was outsanding and certainly gave a decent representation for a taste of French food. Only downside was it was a bit windy and we were sat on the porch area that, whilst surrounded by a screen, still lets the cold air in through the floor. Not to worry the alcohol kept us warm anyway.
