A must see if you visit Grenoble! The views are amazing and the caves are very cool to see. Wear good shoes if you plan on sightseeing.

“great view on Grenoble city”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

if you come to Grenoble, you have to go to «la Bastille»! the nicest view above the city, 180+ degrees with mountains in the background, magnificent!
you can go the lazy way via the lift (téléphérique, about 7€ return ticket) or walk up and down through the gardens and stairs and fortifications!

“Summer Hike”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

I've walked up to the bastille a couple times and have always enjoyed the trip. It's not tiring at all if you take breaks, and there's two routes up - one along a wide gravel path with frequent stairways, the other with mostly stairways or steeper, thinner pathways. The thin & stairway-heavy path is from the western side, the wider path from the eastern side.

I've never taken 'les boules' to get there but I've noticed it takes about five minutes from "door to door". The weather's a fairly large contributing factor to the sort of time you'll have, as you're completely outside and the view from the top isn't nearly as impressive if you can't see for miles.

Definitely worth a trip - it's a neat destination that's unique to Grenoble and offers some neat sites and a healthy aspect along the way!

“Really nice view!”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

This was our first attraction in Grenoble and we really enjoyed it.
The view was so nice and there are lots of paths to do hiking (we love hiking). The weather was ok (sunny) but don't forget to take a coat because of the wind.

“Great Views of Grenoble and the Surrounding Valleys”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

The Bastille is a quick cable car ride up from the heart of Grenoble. One can see why this fortification was chosen, with its commanding views of town and surrounding valleys. The museum and amenities at the top are basic, but the view itself is worth it. Those in good physical condition could consider hiking either up or down, taking the cable care the other direction.
