“Good, basic apartment-hotel, great area, no complaints”

>>>>> Location
Like others have said, very central and easy for all transportation. Many busses and trams come by regularly. Tram B comes every 5-10 minutes and takes you to the train station, there is a grocery store across the street (all rooms have kitchens), movie theatre around the corner, bakery and wine shop close by, a great cheese shop right on the same street etc. This is in the center of town but its a 5 min walk to the "hyper center" which has many restaurants and bars and shops. Grenoble is a small city so its very walkable in general.

>>>>> Kitchen / Food
I stayed here for a month in February and 2 weeks in December. Let me tell you it was *great* to have my own kitchen. I can't eat restaurant food for every meal!! Plus the restaurants in France are only open certain hours so it was nice to have that flexibility. The kitchens are pretty basic but regardless they were good to have. Continental breakfast provided (I think it comes with most rooms??). Nice and easy - croissants, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, fruit, and sometimes extras. No proper restaurant though you will have to go elsewhere for other meals.

>>>>> Cleaning
These are apartment hotels so they usually do a light daily cleaning but not always. And they often don't replace soaps and such but I prefer to have my own brands anyways. They are always very good about replacing the towels and bathrobe tho. Once per week they do a full clean.

They have laundry facilities but all the instructions are in French so be careful... For me one load per week was included but if you do more tokens for a wash and a dry are like 10 euros total. Steep.

>>>>> Size
The apartments are small and cramped but they give you a nice big closet to put your gear. Some rooms are more spacious than others. The rooms in the South corner are all quite spacious, but the ones in the North corner have their own balcony which is nice you can see the Bastille.

>>>>> Heating
In the winter you have to keep the bathroom and main heater on during the day to keep the apartment warm at night. Its wasteful but its the only thing that worked for me! Sooo cold in GRE in winter!!!

>>>>> Technology
Only english channels are CNN and BBC. Fine by me but got sick of them after a month... Load up your laptop with shows before you come! No wifi in the room bring a longer cord than what they provide if you don't want to sit at the desk all the time. There is wifi in the lobby though.

>>>>> Staff
The staff all speaks English so that was great! Most were really great only had some attitude from one but it wasn't a big deal. They are really friendly.

Room Tip: South corner rooms are more spacious, north corner rooms have a balcony. I think the higher floors a...

I stayed at this "hotel" for a week in January. The location is perfect. You can walk to the old town for a lot of restaurants and shops. The tram is around the conner so it's easy to get around. Make sure you have coins because the ticket machine does not accept US credit card and will not accept paper money. The room is more like an appartment rather then hotel. It has a small kitchen which is good and bad. It's good that you can heat small meal but you will also smell whaterver your neighbors cooked. When I checked in the room, there was no soap. I had to go down to the receptionist asking for a small soap bar. My room was not cleaned for the entire week I was there. I only ate breakfast there once. The price is too high for a continental breakfast. I went accross the street to get pastries from the supermarket.

This aparthotel was about a half mile from main shopping area. Our apartment was well equipped especially since my partner and i had been travelling for the last few days. The bathroom had a drying rail for clothes along with iron/ironing board. Washing machine area was on first floor. The bathroom had lots of big fluffy towels along with plenty of soap, shampoo etc., Facing hotel was a big supermarket along with fine cheese/wine and fish shops, also small restaurants and bars for evening. Bed comfortable.

Room Tip: rooms to the front have balconies overlooking street. Perfect.

Family of 4 stayed here for Tour De France for 4 nights. Great value, used kitchenette for every meal. Great center city location, staff was helpful and free internet access. Hotel was also next to a large park, great for a morning run. Grocery across the street. only con was a moldy shower curtain.

This hotel is located at the center of the City Grenoble. One can get all the transport, shopping facilities within short reach. The Tram, Bus stop Chavant is just opposite and the Rail station Gare is 10 min walk. The tourist office is nearby and two shopping stores viz. the Spar and Marche Plus is just on the other side of the road. The hotel staff and the other boarders were also very nice, as for my experience is concerned. I'd certainly love to stay there again if I happen to travel to Grenoble. Viva Grenoble!

The Citadines is a no frill pay by the night residence. Note that I didn't say hotel and that's because when I checked in, the woman at the front desk made that clear to me. they are a residence, not a hotel.

Got it.

In other words: pay for your stay in advance, no hotel like amenities such as help finding a restaurant or clean linens included in the price of the stay. Want clean towels? That'll be 8 euros and isn't offered daily, although laundry facilities are so one could clean one's linens oneself.

The good part is that the suite was clean (think 80s decor) and had a little kitchen area with a fridge and stove. On-site parking is also available as is breakfast in a little cafeteria.

Note that the Citadines does not have air conditioning. They offer an "air cooling system" which is otherwise normally called by the rest of the world: "a fan." Seriously, they told us they had an air cooling system. No joke. Remember that in the summer, Grenoble can become one of the hottest cities in France...
