this is our favorite bar /restaurant in 1650 . They are always freindly and curteous and welcomed the children .you can eat in the restaurant or just eat their fantastic pizzas in the bar nothing is too much trouble. The food in the restaurant is tipically savoyard and is always tastes good . we love the hot stones where you cook the meat yourself such as duck ;beef and chicken. The bar staff especially william are excellent always remembering your drinks as soon as you enter . we will be returning at New Year and this will be our first port of call .

“Best of the bunch in this part of town.”

With experience from previous holidays staying locally in Courchevel 1650, we carefully checked out the choices before reserving a table at L'Alambic, and we were not disappointed this time. Warm, courteous and attentive service, a good local house wine at not much more than you would pay anywhere (14.5 euros) and a very satisfying meal left us with a comfortable glow with which to plough our way home, through 250mm of new snow.
There are two evening menus of the day, the chef's Menu Alambic and the Menu Savoyard which my wife selected. The salad Savoyard consisted of a large plate of goat's cheese with toasted french bread, nuts and green salad. This was followed by Tartiflette with lots of cheese and potatoe,. She was cheesed off by the time the creme brulee arrived. My faux filet maitre d'hotel was very tasty, if not as good as best British beef, and the desert du jour was a classic Mille Feuille, naughty but nice.
Our visit coincided with a large group of visiting Welsh speakers who, naturally, could not resist a "sing-song", but we were unable to join in as we do not know the words. It was a lively, entertaining evening!
