It's a difficult little to find this little gem, as the only guide is a little sign on the doorway, amongst ground-level shops, which leads down 20 feet of steps into the entrance of this snug little restaurant/bar.
It was in bygone times a place where sheep were kept! The place is now a lovely place to enjoy yourself - the wide floor has tables each side, is overlooked by a splendid curved ceiling. Solid as a rock and safe.
Prices were OK and the service excellent. Good menu and fine wines.

Definitely recommend the place.

One of the best meals we had during our week in Chamonix. The food, service, atmosphere and pricing were all superb. Proves you don't need to spend large sums and do "fine-dining" to have a good evening.

Went in on the off chance, although they were obviously busy -as was reflected in the service - we were found a lovely table, Restaurant very atmospheric, lovely ambiance. We had nachos to share (for 2) and it was a MASSIVE amount, maybe a little more cheese would have been nice and hubby wanted some jalapeños but great as a snack! We had also ordered pizzas which were stunning! Cooked to order but a lot after the nachos, a case of either or I think. I am not a big fan of pizza but these were really fantastic. Would have given 5 stars if the service was better but they were literally SO busy hard to get waitress attention, That said the maitre d' (female) bopped as we paid by card and all the staff were very friendly.

This restaurant saved us! We were two families with 4 kids and we arrived at 23 o'clock to our hotel in Les houches (near Chamonix). Unfortunately the restaurant of the hotel was closed and when we asked other hotel residents about any restaurant nearby they all replied that they would be surprised if a restaurant is open at that time there! We were completely hopeless and went to Chamonix (which is 5 minutes away from Les houches) and surprisingly discovered Le caveau restaurant open. The other surprises were the friendliness of the staff, high quality of the food and warm atmosphere in the restaurant. The quantity and price of the food were also reasonable. All of us were very happy to eat there that we would definitely go there during our next trip to that area.

We were fitted in on a busy Friday night, when we fancied a quite quick and cheerful pizza meal. The pizza was fantastic (cooked in the open wood oven which you cant beat), the place had a nice welcome, great atmosphere and I really enjoyed the Fruits de Bois dessert too. Highly recommended
