“Great food, great value”
Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

Have to say that without doubt this is my favourite restaurant in Chamonix. Excellent selection of pizzas and pasta dishes with a price that is a pleasant surprise.

First of all put the idea of getting served quickly out of you mind. That way you will enjoy the experience and avoid being disappointed. This place gets heavily booked and has two sittings (7pm and 9pm). My recommendation is go and find a nice wine bar (Cha Cha Cha is worth a short walk) and have a decent bottle of wine, take the 9pm sitting and then settle in for the night.

I have always found the staff really nice and friendly, especially how busy the place gets, with the food perfectly prepared and a selection of reasonably priced wines.

This is not the fanciest restaurant in Chamonix. If you want fondu or savoyard look elsewhere. It's just a great place to have decent classic Italian food without breaking the bank. No pretence here!.

“Great Pizza”

We had dinner at Casa Valerio last night. It was really good. Great atmosphere, attentive service...even though the place was busy and excellent pizza. Watch out for the chilli oil. Super hot.

“Good food and value”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

Our hotel got us a last-minute resi at the bar. Book ahead if you want a table, they are super busy. We had an excellent antipasti Italiano, Pizza, Veal and Pasta dish. The food quality was very good, the staff is friendly and had very good English skills.

“OK food ......when you get it”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

The problem with this restaurant is that it is too well known, has too many tables (it is very, very cramped), takes too many bookings and has a poor ipod based ordering "system". In a town where there are so many non-French, it would also help if more of the staff understood English - other than the one who actually is.

Our first visit went quite well and we only had to wait 15 minutes for a table and 20 minutes to get our first course. Our second booking was also made by our hotel, for four people at 7.30pm. The restaurant wrote it down for two people, so when we got there they told us to come back in half an hour. We did and they told us to come back in another 15 minutes, when they told us that our table would be ready when the people on it had finished their coffee, but they couldn't say when that would be. At that point we ''grabbed'' the ear of the waitress from London who had been monitoring our predicament from the background. To be fair she was brilliant and got us a table inside three minutes at about 8.30pm. We ordered and our kids food arrived after about 20 minutes. Ours didn't and they'd nearly finished by the time we managed to get the attention of the English waitress. She discovered that somehow (fat finger syndrome) a comma had been entered on our order and that means that "the adults want their food after the kids had eaten". No-one does that. We nearly exploded, but she made sure that our food arrived as soon as it could, so a meal that should have been finished by 9.00pm latest, ended up not starting till that time and not finishing until after 10pm. Not funny, especially after a hard day's skiing. Added to that your clothes come out stinking of all the food and need either washing or hanging out overnight. At least it's less expensive than some others in Chamonix and the food is tasty.
