As pretty much the only Japanese restaurant in Chamonix, they have a monopoly on Japanese food lovers. We have been to Satsuki 6 times and the food is good however I have tasted better value for money in many other Japanese restaurants. Alas, what to do when we love sushi, sashimi, katsu etc and have no choice!

I have spent 5 seasons in Chamonix and just love this place. In a nut shell -
relaxed, great value, tasty, authentic, clean, simple, perfect service, friendly. and a good menu lunch with never ending tea for 10 euros...great.

During a 4 day stay in Chamonix we tried a lot of asian "flavoured" restaurants and this was the worst one. The edamame and other starters were really nice, but when it came to the sushi, the raw fish had a scent of (old) butter - and it didnt look too fresh. After when complained we got another sashimi which scent was less worse - but we didn t want to be the tester for their (old) fish - so we stopped the dinner and only payed everything that wasn t sushi. And left to munchies were we had fabuluos tempurra king crab. What was really shocking a lot of people order "take a away" and they liked it (it is difficult to smell it when the fish is in a maki with a spicey sauce). My learnt lesson is for a unknown sushi restaurant is order sashimi and smell it (a fresh fish has no scent).

After travelling Europe for 6 weeks and spending a lot of time eating pasta and pizza in Italy we both welcomed the change in food. We researched this restaurant on TA and were not disappointed. We shared chicken teriyaki and vegetable tempura. The tempura was good and had a good variety of vegetables. Teriyaki was good (not the best we have had but still very enjoyable). We left feeling very satisfied and would return.

We waited a while for our food but this small restaurant was full and that's not surprising. Good sushi, teriyaki and tempura, all served very nicely. Would highly recommend this place if you want a change from traditional fare around town but just be prepared to wait a bit.
