Stayed here with family for a couple of nights on a run through the Alps. The room was comfortable and the entire staff, from management on down, could not have been more gracious or helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

WE have always had the most wonderful welcome..The Rooms are spacious with comfortable beds.It is best to book a room overlooking Mont Blanc and the river, with a balcony if possible. The Breakfast is very good indeed with many excellent and various Restaurants to visit in the evening..Our stay here has become one of the highlights of our holiday.

Room Tip: Book a room overlooking the River and Mont Blanc

From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. We were graciously met by the manager in the garage and escorted to the front desk and then to our room. The hotel is beautiful, with an old world charm that is reflected in the decor and common areas. Our room had wonderful views of the mountains and was just above the ARV river. Located right in town, we could walk everywhere. The staff was so friendly and attended to our every need. Will definitely make this our place of choice for stays in Chamonix!

Room Tip: Loved the rooms on the Mont Blanc side

We spent 6 nights at the Grand Hotel des Alpes, and were exceeding glad that we had chosen it as our base in Chamonix. The hotel itself is a charming, classic French hotel, tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The staff, though, are what makes it an exceptional place to stay -- they could not possibly have been more friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

A brief caveat: the location of the hotel is something of a blessing and curse. It is right in the center of town, making it extremely convenient. If your room is on the street (Brevent) side and you are visiting during high season, the town can be quite loud (this is not an issue on the river side). If you can close the windows, it's not an issue; when we were visiting, it was hot enough that we needed to leave them open several nights, because like many places in Chamonix, the hotel doesn't have AC. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and it wouldn't prevent us from staying at the hotel -- next time, though, we would try to stay on the river side.

My daughter and I stayed here pre-TMB, and we loved this hotel. The service is five star. We upgraded to a river view room with a balcony, and I highly recommend doing so. The room, linens, bathroom were all very luxurious. My daughter swam in the pool and loved it. The best part was when we came back a week later tired, sweaty and yearning for a little luxury after TMB, the staff allowed us to shower and clean up in the spa and pool area. I highly recommend this hotel! My only suggestion is that they offer complementary coffee and tea even for those that do not opt for the breakfast option.

Room Tip: rooms with river view and balcony are well worth it
