“large terrace - good spot for people-watching”
Reviewed July 30, 2014

L'Atelier is right in the centre of Chamonix and next to the river with good views of the mountains. It has a large split terrace - half in front of the bar and half across the street next to the river. It's also a great spot for people watching whilst enjoying a drink or snack.

7 Euros for a pint of Heineken so about average for Chamonix. It serves breakfast, lunch and also snacks - the tzatziki dip with bread for 7 Euros will keep you going until dinner.

They do have live music, which is great. But it can be a bit loud if you're right next to it so consider a seat on the river side of the terrace if you want to have a conversation :-)

“Only thing that should be served is coffee”
Reviewed April 27, 2014

We stopped here for lunch on a sunny day in April. Unfort the food was as poor as I've had in any restaurant/cafe - they should stick to coffee and avoid serving 'food' as they have no idea - best avoid unless you're just looking for a drink

“Funky, Cozy, Cafe & Resto. Hipsters, Locals, Tourists welcome”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

I somehow missed this on my first trip to Chamonix but it quickly became my new favourite on my last visit. There is great outdoor seating with views of the mountains - hopping après-ski and brunch on weekends. Inside is an adorably cozy setting, nice wood feeling, comfy cushions and best of all - fantastic local art gives it a retro-ski-scene vibe. They have a great charcuterie board that is very good value for money (13E, large offering). I made many stops here for tea (good selection), hot chocolates, and wine during my visit. There was a good mix of people; I spent a rainy morning in there reading a book, others working on laptop and they didn't mind, at same time tourists were coming in from rain and a group of locals there for morning coffee kept arriving until finally they switched from morning coffee to wine. Also a great spicy hot chocolate here. They have good brunch selection including bagels! (big deal to North Americans living in parts of Europe!). The service leaves something to be desired, but place makes up for it in charm and offerings.

“Lovely experience ”
Reviewed April 13, 2014 via mobile

Right on the river. They had live music, always a HUGE plus in my book. You're overlooking the city center, with the mountains over your shoulder. I had the Caesar salad which was actually different and very good. Reasonable prices. Enjoyed this a lot.
