Park Hotel Suisse & Spa

We stayed as a work party of 12 people on a ski trip over the first weekend in January. Overall the hotel ticks all of the boxes, it is decorated in a modern style but combined with authentic alpine touches hotel. We certainly had no compliants about any aspect of the hotel. We stayed in a deluxe room and i must admit they are definitely superior to the standard room and in my opinion if you can affiod it it is worth the extra money. The new spa and outdoor heated pool is a definite plus and a must after a day on the slopes planning to go back next year.

Park Suisse Hotel was the last place available in Chamonix for the dates we were booking for. So we were left with no choice but to stay here. After our visit, if Park Suisse Hotel was the last place available in Chamonix - we would go elsewhere. The hotel is great location - we had a view of the mountain and the lifts. Just back from the main street of shops and restaurants. Middle of the city area.

However the reception service - not so great. We arrived at 1 to leave our bags - that was allowed, so good so far. When we returned at 4:30 (we were able to check in from 2 I believe), we were told that they had to call housekeeping to see if our room was ready yet. I'm sorry but should it not be ready 2 hours after check in time? If it hadn't been, we would have had a problem. Luckily it was ready, however it then took over 10 minutes for us to get our bags. The rooms are a good size, closet room, a safe (although small - hard to fit an iPad in), with a balcony, and separate bathroom to toilet. The toilet in our room was a little windowless compact box - a bit weird but no complaints. The room had no controllable AC (I assume it had AC?) so it was quite warm most of the time - luckily we could open the door to the balcony to cool it down.

Also if you need to check out quickly - you can't. Leave at least 20 minutes to check out. Or to ask a question at reception. Or do anything - the staff can't seem to juggle more than one thing at a time. Even giving in a key or picking up your room key - takes forever. Makes you not want to hand in your key! Especially as they never ask for your name - you could take anyones key and go into their room!!

Main complaints -

1. They ran out of hot water on our first morning. NO HOT WATER for a shower. I called reception and told them, asking if it was my room or all. They said it was all. I asked when it would be back on - in the afternoon reception said. What use is that when we would be up the mountain skiing? When I asked why there was no hot water, the reply was 'I dont know' with no offer for where to go have a shower, or any apologies or anything to make up for it. We had to still pay the full price for the room despite no shower that morning. I am sure the 18 euro a night hostel had hot water!!

2. After a day of skiing, we came back to an unlocked room - the door had not been closed and was ajar from housekeeping. We returned to the room at 7pm. Luckily it didn't look like anyone had gone through our room - but that was SHOCKING. We were not happy with that at all. Especially because the safe was small and would not fit laptops or other large valuables. You should never expect to have your room left open by hotel staff.

3. There was no normal tea in the room - there was herbal tea and fruit tea, but no 'normal' tea. Also no milk of any form. My partner went to the reception to ask if they had any normal tea, he was directed to the restaurant connected to reception (which didn't seem out of place, as when we asked to use the restroom we were directed to the restaurant). They had earl grey alongside english breakfast, so he took a tea. We were charged 4.50 EURO for that...which I contested at check out, and had to have a huge discussion and argue the reasons why we shouldn't pay - 4.50 for a teabag! That should have been in the room!!! And they insisted we paid, but I would not back down.

4. A design flaw in the jug - the jug for tea/coffee is connected to a tray. You cannot disconnect it. Where it is located is perfect location (a desk over the minibar). Except there is no plug. So we had to go and sit it on the floor and plug it into the wall by the door to the hallway in order to make tea. Not a big deal but I don't know why they designed it that way. There is a plug near the jug, but it is for the minibar, and you cannot disconnect the minibar plug.

We ended up skiing in Les Houches rather than Chamonix. And although Chamonix was great, if there was no where else to stay apart from Park Suisse, we would stay out of town and come to Chamonix for the shops and restaurants. I wouldn't stay here again.

Stayed in this hotel over Christmas 2011. The hotel is recently renovated and everything is clean, well-kept and surrounded by a good atmosphere. The spa on the 6th floor is very nice, not least the fact that you can use an outdoor pool with a beautiful view to Mount Blanc and the beautiful mountains surrounding Chamonix. The saunas with direct view (glas-walls) to the mountains as well were also very nice. Add to that the steam bath etc. and the opportunity to discounted wellness massage for hotel guests. The deal we got through hotels.com incl. half board. That was a nice breakfast - much more than the usual :-) French croissant and coffee...eggs, bacon, fruit, pain ou chocolats etc. The evening meal consisted of set menus with the choice btw. 3-4 entres, main and desserts.qFood auality was fairly good, service level good. And restaurant and hotel lobby staff worked hard to make sure the guest had a nice holiday (Christimas eve - special and very nice menu) experience. Have to say that price level of wine was quite high - and have seen that mentioned in other reviews as well. As for the room, we booked a deluxe double. It was not big - but nice anyway. Especially the bathroom - and the balcony with a west-view to the mountains and sun late afternoon. All in all we enjoyed the place which has a very central location - to the shops, restaurants etc. as well as to the free ski-busses offering access to all major ski-areas in the Chamonix area.

We stayed here for Christmas Eve and Christmas night. The hotel was comfortable, the room cozy, and the staff was very patient while I tried to speak French to them. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains and I really enjoyed waking up to see the sun rising over them. The only real issue I had was that the hot water in our shower ran out very quickly both days. Otherwise, the hotel is in a great location and allows dogs for an additional fee. There's also a rooftop pool that is open in the winter. You enter the pool inside and swim through a tunnel into the outdoor portion so you never have to be cold.

We stayed four days in this hotel. It is located right near the center of the town of Chamoix in France. In fact, it's across the street from the Tourists' Bureau. You can walk to everything...restaurants, shops, tram to top. We could watch the hang gliders from our hotel window. We had a small flower-lined balcony with a beautiful view of the Alps. There are many great restaurants within walking distance. The hotel staff was great, very helpful, and pleasant to talk to I got the flu and wasn't feeling well. They provided lots of ice water and juice for me. I needed to see a doctor on the 3rd day. The sweet receptionist seemed very concerned and called to get us an appointment, The doctor was also within walking distance, and only charged 40 Euro, We were very pleased with the room, It was decorated in a ski-lodge motif with knotty pine on the walls and bright colors on the beds. We would definitely stay in this hotel again!

Room Tip: Our room faced the front of the hotel, was very quiet with a great view of the Alps.

It is a hotel in center of Chamonix very near to everything traveler might wish for.
One of the best features is a small bakery two houses away from the hotel which has excellent sandwiches and even better croissants, quite handy if you are going away for the whole day and plan to spend it in the mountains. Opposite hotel is Tourist office and right next to it is a small coffee shop with terrace always in the sun.

The people working at the reception are very friendly and helpful, service exceptional! Breakfast plentiful and tasty, rooms cozy and clean.
The views from the hotel are best from the rooms on the upper floors, lower floors have the view of the Hotel Mont Blanc which is currently going through renovation, so... not so stunning.

All in all, very good hotel, but if you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors, a bit pricy.
